Provincial racing heads the way of Gosford on Thursday afternoon with a seven-race program lined up. There’s rain forecast on Monday evening, but nothing on the radar for race-day, so we’ve got the course somewhere in the Soft range. The rail is out +3m the entire circuit, with the opening race scheduled for 12:50pm AEST.
Best Bet: Time To Boogie
Returning at this course and distance on June 22 after 14 weeks off, Time To Boogie tried to make every post a winner but just got done by a half-length. We’re putting it down to a lack of race-day fitness, and now with the run under his belt, the three-year-old gelding should be much improved second-up. Tyler Schiller retains the ride and from barrier four can adopt similar tactics to the horse’s first-up performance – this time securing victory.

Next Best: Nanshe
Nanshe is set to resume from a 180-day spell and looks to be travelling well heading into this first-up assignment. This daughter of Astern finished her campaign in Victoria running third at Cranbourne on January 6 and was unfortunate not to break her maiden status. She got back and turned in wide, missing out by less than a half-length on the winning post. She’s clearly been a work in progress, but her latest jump-out at Hawkesbury was encouraging. With Zac Lloyd taking the mount as his only ride on Thursday, we’re confident Nanshe can put it all together.

Next Best Again: Undivided
The Michael Freedman-trained Undivided has had two jump-outs heading into his race debut this Thursday, with his latest catching the eye at Canterbury on June 26. He powered through the line under his own steam on that day, and although it can be hard to take unraced gallopers on trust, he seems to be a nice type moving forward. Undivided has already firmed from his $7 opening price with online bookmakers, so the market isn’t missing him.
