Seven races will be held at Gosford on Wednesday on what looks a perfect afternoon for racing. The track is a Good 4, the rail is in the true position, and the first field will face the starter at 2:20pm local time. Let’s take a look at the best bets on offer at Australia’s top online bookmakers.
Best bet: Pumba Rua
Grant Attard and Mitchell Bell combine in the last with Pumba Rua, who we have a bit of time for. The four-year-old gelding was huge on debut, rattling home into third, before being luckless at this track on start two when beaten 0.02 of a length. At Newcastle next up he defied a big betting drift and was too good over the 1200m, which he is confronted with again here. He’s placed in both runs at this track and should get the speed on to suit him, so he looks a great each-way play in the last.

Next best: Yggdrasil
Tommy Berry will be legged up by Chris Waller in the opener, and that looks a winning formula in itself. Yggdrasil looks well placed after running second at Kembla Grange last start behind Layla Of Monaco. Third up and staying at the mile will suit the three-year-old Sacred Fall filly, who is likely to settle in the first two pairs in the run in a bid to breakthrough for her first victory. She can open the account for punters in the first.

Best value: Underboss
Underboss comes into this race fourth up into his campaign, which looks ideal. The son of Animal Kingdom raced in a hot form race back in June and then came out to win well as an odds-on pop. This time in, the Kim Waugh-trained gelding has been in and around the money behind the likes of Black Bolt and Saffiano, which looks good for this. He was beaten three-quarters of a length at Port Macquarie last start on a Heavy track, so he should appreciate the dry surface here. From barrier two under Brenton Avdulla, he shouldn’t be too far away in the run and should have a good sight at this.
