HorseBetting’s New South Wales form analyst has previewed Friday’s seven-race card at Gosford and brings you his best bets, value bets and quaddie numbers. The track is rated a Soft 5, and the rail is out 2m from the 1100m to the 300m, while it is in the true position for the remainder of the course. The first race of the afternoon is set to jump at 3:05pm AEDT.

Gosford’s Best Bet – Wolf Queen

In the opening leg of the quaddie, Bjorn Baker combines with Heavelon Van Der Hoven aboard three-year-old filly, Wolf Queen. The daughter of Tivaci has had just two starts for a win and a second, with her maiden victory coming at this track on December 23 over 1000m. Wolf Queen was pretty dominant on that day, settling in the box seat before racing away to win by 1.25 lengths. Now stepping out to 1200m, Bjorn Baker looks to have placed this filly particularly well, up against her own sex in a Benchmark 64. From barrier two, Van Der Hoven can get this promising filly to settle in a perfect spot where she should prove hard to beat.

Next Best Bet – Flying Witness

Annabel Neasham and Alysha Collett combine with the talented albeit frustrating filly, Flying Witness. The daughter of Star Witness has placed in three of her six starts, with her past two races resulting in runner-up efforts. At her most recent race, the Group-performed filly looked home and hosed at this track, before being nabbed on the post by Pink Ivory. Flying Witness now rises from 1600m to 1900m, so she is going to have the chance to settle and sprint quickly at the end of the race, which should suit her down to the ground. Drawn out in barrier 10, Collett will likely push early to be in a handy spot, before allowing her class to come to the fore in the concluding stages. She should be better than these and is well and truly capable of breaking through at start seven.

Best Value At Gosford – Zetarita

Kris Lees saddles up his Capitalist filly, Zetarita, in her first start back from a spell. The three-year-old filly ran second at Taree on debut, before proving to be a class above at Muswellbrook on September 2, and then going on with it to win a 3YO Benchmark 68 over 1200m at this track on September 27. The talented filly then went to Rosehill where she disappointed as a $5.50 chance behind Snitzonfire. The winner of that race is a live chance in Saturday’s Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas, while Kiss Sum, who finished sixth in that race, went on and won the $750,000 Four Pillars during the Sydney Spring Carnival. That form has proved handy, so we are happy to back this filly first-up off two trials. She’s good enough.
