Gosford race betting preview – March 23

Eight Provincial races will be run and won at Gosford on Tuesday afternoon. Due to the torrential rain that has hammered New South Wales in the last few days, the track is rated a Heavy 10 with some doubt over whether the meeting will go ahead. The rail is in the true position for the entire circumference of the course. Horsebetting.com.au’s dedicated form analysts bring you their best bets, value picks and Quaddie numbers for Tuesday’s meeting which kicks off at 1:15pm AEDT.

Best Bet: Falcon

James Cummings only has the three rides at Gosford on Tuesday and we are confident that he can kick off the day in style when he partners three-year-old rig, Falcon. By Not A Single Doubt and trained by Peter & Paul Snowden, the lightly raced youngster has had the three starts and finished with two placings and a win. On debut he finished seven lengths off Anders and then was two and a half lengths off Equation at his next start who was a subsequent Listed winner. After a decent spell he resumed with a two and a half length victory at his only start at this track and his only run during the spring. Given an easy time of it at the trials in the lead up to this, the three-year-old should have his opponents measure from barrier five. Both placings came on soft tracks, so we have every reason to suspect that he will handle the heavy conditions.

Best BetRace 1 – Falcon (#4) $3.20 with Sportsbet

Next Best: Drummin

Lee & Cherie Curtis will combine with Tom Marquand in the second with their three-year-old filly, Drummin. The daughter of Rubick was a tough on-pacer at Randwick-Kensington last time out, finishing behind Rainbow Connection who was an ever-so impressive debut winner and a half sister to none other than Hong Kong champion miler, Golden Sixty. That metropolitan form reads pretty well in this fairly average fillies and mares maiden. Marquand will take her forward from barrier seven and she should be able to get a nice run outside likely leader and race favourite Heroess who is drawn inside her. Drummin can be winning her maiden here.

Next BestRace 2 – Drummin (#1) $3.40 with Sportsbet

Best Value: Mon Amore

Three-year-old Sebring filly Mon Amore was a beaten odds on favourite at Taree last time out over the mile, finishing four lengths off La Roca on a Heavy 8 track. The winner won by over three lengths, but only two lengths separated the next three horses, with a margin off six lengths back to the fifth horse home, so we are confident she got through the going, and being by Sebring, we would assume she can handle the mud. Up to 1900m this time out should suit, and she is drawn to get all of the favours from barrier two under Kathy O’Hara. She has placed twice on Heavy tracks and a further time on a Soft track. She can figure again.

Best ValueRace 5 – Mon Amore (#9) $7.00 with Sportsbet
