HorseBetting’s New South Wales racing analyst presents you with his best bets, value bet & quaddie numbers for Thursday’s eight-race meeting at Gosford. The track is rated a Heavy 10 and the rail is out 3m for the entire course. Racing is scheduled to get underway at 12:05pm AEST.

Best Bet at Gosford – Arabolini

Six-year-old gelding Arabolini doesn’t win out of turn, but when he does, it’s usually on a rain-affected track. The John Cooper-trained son of Pomellato has a good record here at Gosford, winning two and running second once from his six starts at the track. Drawn low in barrier three, apprentice jockey Ellen Hennessy will send the staying galloper to the front and he will give them something to chase. He’s one-paced, so watch him turn this into a grind.

Best Bet

Race 5 – Silk #1 Arabolini (3)

6yo Gelding | T: John Cooper | J: Ellen Hennessy (a2)(60kg)

Next Best at Gosford – Twitch

Mark Newnham and Tyler Schiller combine in the penultimate with four-year-old mare, Twitch. The daughter of I Am Invincible is resuming from a six-month break after racing competitively during the late spring and summer months. After two nice trials, Twitch looks ready to win first-up at a track she is yet to miss the top two at from three starts. Schiller has trialled her twice, so he should have a bit of a feel for the mare now as well. From barrier 11, we would like to see the apprentice jockey send Twitch to the front on a track which is likely to favour the leaders, giving them a horse to catch in this 1100m affair.

Next Best

Race 7 – Silk #4 Twitch (11)

4yo Mare | T: Mark Newnham | J: Tyler Schiller (a0)(60.5kg)

$4 with Neds

Best Value at Gosford – Pumbaa Rua

In the final race of the afternoon, Reece Jones hops aboard the Brett Lazzarini-trained Pumbaa Rua, who is first-up. The five-year-old gelding hasn’t raced since December when he failed to beat a runner home at Warwick Farm, but prior to that, his form was solid enough to be competitive in a race like this. The son of Sheer Talent doesn’t have the best of racing patterns, as he does get a fair way out of his ground, but his finish is what makes him a betting proposition in this. Jones is likely to go back on him from barrier eight, but there is enough speed in this race to set it up for a horse like Pumbaa Rua to get home over the top of them.

Best Value

Race 8 – Silk #9 Pumbaa Rua (8)

5yo Gelding | T: Brett Lazzarini | J: Reece Jones (a0)(56.5kg)

$18 with Ladbrokes
