Trainer Tony Gollan hopes last-start winner I’m A Rippa will take that form to Doomben.

Leading Brisbane trainer Tony Gollan is hoping the winning run of horses having their next start after Magic Millions race day continues with I’m A Rippa at Doomben.

Gollan has Millions day winner I’m A Rippa in Saturday’s Makers Mark Open Handicap (1350m) at Doomben.

I’m A Rippa earned $600,000 for his win in the Magic Millions QTIS race and has gone up to 56.5kg in the weights on Saturday with stable apprentice Lani Fancourt to reduce that by 1.5kg.

As was to be expected from a day with big fields, the Magic Millions race day has proved a guide to future winners.

There have been a string of runners from the January 13 meeting who won at their next start including Most Important, Outraged, Love and Rock It, Shesees Everything, Splitter and Zabeel’s Choice.

Gollan has stepped I’m A Rippa up to 1350m after having him entered for a similar distance race last Saturday but it was washed out.

“This will be his last run this campaign before we send him for a break. He really has reached a new level this campaign,” Gollan said.

“I get a kick out of him winning because he tries hard in everything. I think he has only been out of the place twice in nine goes at the track and distance.”

“He is drawn wide on Saturday but he has the early pace to get across from that start.”

I’m A Rippa’s stablemate Of the Day will also be having her final start this campaign in the Canadian Club Handicap (1200m).

“She can have a break and like I’m A Rippa come back for some the stakes races in the winter,” Gollan said.

I’m A Rippa was the $2.80 favourite on race eve ahead of Bidii Babe ($4), the runner-up to Most Important in the Listed Sunshine Coast Cup (1400m) on January 27.
