Gold Coast horse racing

Queensland racing heads down the highway to the Gold Coast on Saturday for Pink Ribbon Cup Day. Nine strong races have been assembled, with the first set to jump at 11:48am AEST. The track will be a Good 4, with the rail out just +0.5m from the 1400m to the 400m marker and true for the remainder.

Saturday racing tips for Gold Coast

Best BetRace 7 – Kisukano Best odds at Sportsbet

There’s no prizes for finding her at $1.60, but the form around this giant slayer continues to stack up. The three-year-old filly is the only horse to beat Rothfire and holds the Eagle Farm 1200m record. She steps up against the older mares for the first time here, but she’s down on the minimum and drawn brilliantly in barrier four to push towards the lead. She returns to the Gold Coast for the first time since defeating Rothfire back in March, so we know she’ll handle the course. Michael Nolan plans to send Kisukano for a Group 1 tilt in Sydney if she performs well, which we have every faith she will.

Next BestRace 8 – Zoustyle Best odds at Sportsbet

Another runner who has come up relatively short at around $2 is the Tony Gollan speedster Zoustyle. In a 900m dash, it’ll be handlebars down and straight to the front on the five-year-old in his racing return after bleeding from both nostrils at Rosehill last start. He put paid to The Odyssey – who has since beaten Alligator Blood – in a recent barrier trial, so the form around is brilliant. Zoustyle was very close to earning an Everest slot last year, which is a huge rap on the horse. He flies fresh and will burn up the turf in a race that is his to lose.

Best ValueRace 6 – Bold Xavvi Best odds at Sportsbet

Garnett Taylor saddles up Bold Xavvi in a No Metro Wins Handicap, and we’re astounded at the price. He was well backed last start at Rockhampton when second to Master Jamie, who beat the 1050m track record. Master Jamie would be $3 in this race if he was eligible, so to be offered at around $41 seems ridiculous. Put a line through his run two back when he didn’t handle the wet track, and then you only need to go back one more run when he was very heavily backed as a winner by 3L at Rocky. The in-form Justin Huxtable goes aboard and utilises his 2kg claim. From barrier seven, he’ll land in a brilliant spot and charge home strongly late. Bold Xavvi is a winner at 1200m, has won at the Gold Coast before and goes brilliantly on good going, so we think he is a huge chance at a fantastic each-way price.
