Godolphin pair on trial for 2015 Golden Rose

Inner circleTWO Godolphin three-year-olds are on trial for the Group 1 Golden Rose this Saturday when they run in the Up And Coming Stakes at Randwick.

Shards and Inner Circle have both been well respected in the market and assistant trainer Darren Beadman said the race looks an attractive option for both runners.

“Inner circle was accepted for Wednesday but he draw off the track so John [O’Shea] elected to run him on Saturday – it doesn’t look an overly strong race although no race is easy,” Beadman said.

“But he’s forward enough and really on top of his game, he’ll run a race.

“Shards will benefit from the run but he’s taken that next level in as far as maturity.

“He’s a bit of a laid back customer and got better with racing last time in so whatever he does on Saturday is going to stand him in good stead for the future.

“Obviously Gary Portelli’s horse [Sebring Sun] has the edge, at least in terms of fitness but our horses will run a race.”

Shards is currently on the second line of betting at $4.40 and Inner Circle is at a more each-way price at $9.50 with Sportsbet.
