Geelong racecourse is scheduled to host a competitive eight-race card on Tuesday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s Victorian form analyst presents his best bets and free quaddie selections for the day. The track is rated a Good 4, the rail is out 8m, and racing is set to commence at 1:30pm AEDT.
Geelong Best Bet – No Baby No
The Leon & Troy Corstens-trained No Baby No has begun her career with three straight minor placings, and we think she looks perfectly placed to break her maiden at Geelong. Having been beaten by a nostril at Moonee Valley on December 10, the drop back out of a metropolitan maiden to a country race looks ideal. From barrier 11, Jack Hill should have no issue in finding the front and dictating terms on a day where the leaders should have a big advantage with the rail out 8m. The Shooting To Win filly looks set to gain an uncontested lead, and with even sectionals expected, she should have too much in the tank over the final 200m.
Next Best Bet at Geelong – Swiss Hero
Archie Alexander has his six-year-old gelding Swiss Hero absolutely flying at the minute, and we think he can make it a hat-trick of wins when he steps out over the 1735m. This son of Pierro was a gutsy winner across the border at Morphettville on November 27 when leading throughout and then digging deep late. He had been a dominant winner at Warrnambool the start prior, and this event on Tuesday looks no harder than what he has run in so far. From barrier 10, we expect Declan Bates to have Swiss Hero settled outside the leader, and with race fitness on his side, he should be too good for this lot in the second leg of the quaddie.
Best Value Bet at Geelong – Paper Dragon
Henry Dwyer and Tahlia Hope will be looking to go one better this time with Paper Dragon, who is coming off a second-place finish at Hamilton on December 7. The form lines this three-year-old Charm Spirit filly brings are second to none in this field, as she has chased home the likes of Super Thief and Marine One as well as Vermentino at her last start. From barrier three, she draws to gain an economical run in transit that will allow her to lob on the heels of the leader. With two placings in her last four starts, we anticipate Paper Dragon will break through for a deserved victory on Tuesday.
