Geelong Racecourse is scheduled to host an eight-race card on Sunday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s Victorian horse racing analyst presents his best bets and quaddie numbers with odds from Australia’s top online bookmakers. The track is rated a Good 4, the rail goes out 3m for the entire course, and the meeting is set to get underway at 1:35pm AEST.

Geelong Best Bet: Ocular

Out best bet at Geelong comes in the third leg of the quaddie when the Shea Eden-trained Ocular steps out of harder Saturday races to a Sunday BM78. He charged home at Moonee Valley. To just go down to the low-flying Corner Pocket on August 21. The start prior he chased home Second Slip who subsequently came out and won at Stakes level at its next start. This is by far the easiest race he has contest in some time and from barrier one is drawn to get every favour in running with Jye McNeil on board. Despite needing to lug 60kg, he should get a wet track to suit his causes with torrential rain expected in the region on Friday and Saturday. His sole win this campaign came at Warrnambool on a Soft 7 when beating home Kalkarni Royale on May 5 and if he runs up to his recent form, he should be simply too classy for this field.

Best BetRace 7 – Ocular (#1) $3.60 with Sportsbet

Next Best at Geelong: Kohli

We were with the Archie Alexander-trained Kohli for his first up run over 1300m here at Geelong on August 13 but was no match for The Garden in the concluding stages. That horse has since come out and beaten a smart one at Sandown at its subsequent start, franking the form. However, Kohli comes into this on the back of three weeks between runs and considering his last start was his first run in nine months, he is sure to derive benefit from that experience. He steps up the 1412m here which looks ideal considering he was doing his best work late last start. He has a win to his name when second up in the past and with Damian Lane on board they should prove too hard to hold out in the final leg of the quaddie.

Next BestRace 8 – Kohli (#11) $5.50 with Sportsbet

Geelong Value Bet: Grey Khan

In the opening leg of the quaddie, the Peter Gelagotis-trained Grey Khan steps out of a BM78 at Moonee Valley on August 21 where he chased home Smokin’ Romans. He plummets back in grade to BM64 and with Talia Chapman on board claiming 4kg he is set to go around with just 57kg on his back. Two starts back in a similar race to what he faces on Sunday, the six-year-old Dalakhani gelding finished under a length away from the eventual winner having raced in restricted room throughout the home straight. With even luck here and odds of $15 available here, here looks to be a great each-way play.

Best ValueRace 5 – Grey Khan (#1) $15 with Sportsbet
