First Race 12:30pm AEST

Geelong Racecourse is scheduled to host a nine-part card on Friday afternoon, and HorseBetting.com.au’s Victorian racing betting expert brings you his best bets and quaddie numbers for the meeting. The track is rated a Soft 7, with the first race set to go at 12:30pm AEST.

Geelong Best Bet: Mr Brightside

Ben and JD Hayes send their three-year-old gelding Mr Brightside to Geelong following a close second at Bendigo on July 1 on his Australian debut. He was well supported on that day, suggesting the stable expects big things from this son of Bullbars, and he has shown that he can handle a ground with the sting out of it. Craig Williams is set to hop on board, which is a huge plus, and despite drawing out wide in barrier 14, his natural racing pattern will have him in the second half of the field as is. If it is a day where you can make up ground from the rear of the field, then we expect Mr Brightside to be too hard to hold out.

Best BetRace 4 – Mr Brightside (#5) $1.90 with Sportsbet

Next Best at Geelong: Bermadez

In the final leg of the quaddie, the Mike Moroney-trained Bermadez looks well-placed to find himself back in the winner’s stall for the first time since his debut win at Geelong on August 14, 2020. Having raced in tougher company than what he faces on Friday, we are finding it hard to see why he cannot bring up a third win from five starts to begin his career. The son of Tavistock has shown he can be tactically versatile, and we expect Damien Oliver to use barrier two to his advantage. With blinkers on for the first time and with even luck, Bermadez should be too good for this BM64 field.

Next BestRace 9 – Bermadez (#2) $4.20 with Sportsbet

Geelong Value Bet: Hinto Blue

Hinto Blue comes to Geelong looking to string together consecutive victories for the first time in his career. He drops 3kg off his Ballarat win, and considering he will be running on from the back of the field, it will only benefit his chances following Josh Richards’ claim. He has had two starts at 1200m for two wins, and we anticipate him to be too strong for his rivals in the concluding stages in the third leg of the quaddie.

Best ValueRace 8 – Hinto Blue (#3) $7.50 with Sportsbet
