Gawler horse racing preview
Racing continues in South Australia this Wednesday with an eight-race card in the city of Gawler. The track has come up a treat, with an upgrade to a Good 3 expected early on in the day. The rail remains in the true position, so there should be no excuses for any of the runners. The first race at Gawler will jump at 12:50pm local time.
Todd Pannell teams up with the O’Shea & Downing mare Pollyanna in the opener. She was sent around at Strathalbyn as a drifting favourite a fortnight ago and was well beaten after a torturous run in transit, although he convincingly defeated all but the winner that day. If she can get an easier run in transit on Wednesday, she should be too good.

Dion Koch and Anna Jordsjo will be hoping for a repeat of the winning performance this six-year-old gelding put together two starts back at Murray Bridge. He may come up at a decent price on Wednesday, yet he should have what it takes to get the job done against several non-winners. He certainly has a good association with Jordsjo, striking at 50% when they team up, and considering this looks to be a sit-and-sprint type of 1700m race, they should be hard to hold out at a nice price.

Ron Campbell’s six-year-old mare returns to the track-and-distance combination where she is arguably most comfortable. She has eight career wins over 1100m, and three of those came at Gawler. Considering there is not much early pace engaged, Todd Pannell will look to take up the lead and could prove hard to catch at a price in the opening leg of the quaddie on Wednesday.
