The Gawler & Barossa Jockey Club is scheduled to host an eight race card on Sunday afternoon under clear skies, with the track rated a Good 4 and the rail out 3m the entire circuit. HorseBetting.com.au brings you the best bets, top odds and free quaddie numbers for the meeting getting underway at 1:15pm AEST at Gawler.
Best Bet: #13 Victory Bandit
The Sue Jaensch-trained Victory Bandit is a short-priced best bet of the day at Gawler on Sunday, but looks extremely hard to go past. The Ready For Victory simply went too hard too early after leading by close to five lengths approaching the home turn at Murray Bridge on May 5 and was worn down over the final 100m to be relegated to third. From barrier nine, with 55.5kg undr Eran Boyd we expect Victory Bandit to head to the front of the field and not leave the pole position throughout the event and outstay them over the 2112m in the P1 spot.
Race 4 – Victory Bandit (#13)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1369418_04]
Next Best: #6 Funckia
Jake Stephens saddles up the mare out of Fiorente, Victory Bandit who ran on strongly at Naracoorte to just miss on May 2. The five-year-old mare steps up to 1500m for the first time in her career and looks well placed having drawn barrier three for Sunday’s and will be looking to go one better than his effort at Naracoorte. His run at Naracoorte was his first run after close to two and half years off the racing scene, so we expect she will only get better going forward. We expect Todd Pannell to settle the mare in the second half of the field, and on the back of a genuine tempo she should be hitting the line strongly and proving too hard to hold out.
Race 3 – Funckia (#6)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1369418_03]
Best Value: #8 Arctic Blaze
The Aimee Bush-trained Arctic Blaze was a dominant victor over the Gawler 1200m under similar conditions that she gets on Sunday. The seven-year-old mare out of Face Value will look to head to the front of the field and attempt to dictate terms, considering how easily she got the job done last time out. If she brings a similar effort to this event, then she is the one we want to be with at a nice each-way quote in the penultimate leg of the quaddie.
Race 7 – Arctic Blaze (#8)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1369418_07]
