What Gatton Races
Where Gatton Racecourse, Gatton QLD 4343
When Friday, May 7, 2021
First Race 11:15am AEST

A massive 10-race card has been assembled for Gatton on Friday which runs from 11:15am all the way through to 4:44pm. The track is currently rated a Heavy 10, but clear weather is forecast for Thursday and Friday so we can be confident that the meeting will go ahead. The rail has been moved out just 0.5m from the 800m to the 350m marker and is true for the remainder of the course. Horsebetting.com.au brings you their best bets, value selection and suggested quaddie for the Gatton race meeting.

Best Bet – Race 4 #5 Ready To Chase

We were standing in line waiting to collect our winnings at the 200m when Ready To Chase last went around on April 12 over 1100m at Ipswich, and somehow he ended up losing in the final stride, much to our dismay. The three-year-old Better Than Ready gelding has had a month between runs now which should have freshened him up, and he stays at the 1100m which will suit. He did get beaten by Palaisipan at Ipswich who won there on Monday franking the form. Barrier nine with Marnu Potgieter on board will see him go forward and lead this field, and with the 1.5kg claim he should prove hard to catch. This is his race for the taking.

Next Best – Race 5 #3 Vinasta

Corey & Kylie Geran’s Vinasta has been brilliant for them since joining the stable at the beginning of this prep, with the five-year-old mare winning once and finishing second on the other two occasions. Her last start second at Toowoomba saw her drift significantly in the market, and after being up on the speed throughout, she stuck on gamely to be beaten two lengths, with a good gap back to third. She has had one start over the Gatton 1400m journey for a win when previously trained by Tony Gollan, so she ticks that box, and she has won on a soft track before which is a positive. The KO Racing colours have been going well of late and can be in the winner’s circle once more.

Best Value – Race 7 #5 Coach

Rodney Hay and Cecily Eaton combine in the fifth with Coach, a five-year-old Denman gelding who we believe will run a big race. He brings some Non-TAB form to the country TAB circuit on Friday, and while his last two runs at Thangool were lacklustre, his start prior when sixth at Rockhampton is very handy form. That five-length defeat came to the in-form Sizzalating, who has won seven straight races in country Queensland and has been winning by margins of 11 lengths in some instances. He will get back to midfield from barrier seven, but can be looping them as they swing for home over the 1400m journey.
