Full form & tips for Yarra Valley, Friday, December 22

Yarra Valley tips

THE first of two Victorian meetings this Friday is in the Yarra Valley as the east Melbourne area whets our appetite ahead of the Cranbourne card under lights.

The meeting is split perfectly down the middle between maiden events and benchmark 58 races, which should provide a lot of entertainment for the punters in the early afternoon.

Invincible Rock is one of only two starters in the field that has racing experience. The horse has placed before Friday’s race, and after being gelded we are expecting a sharp improvement.

Race 1 tip: Invincible Rock to win at Ladbrokes

Race 2 – Maiden Plate (1950m)

The Auditor will have the blinkers applied for the first-time on Friday which should prove the difference. Last time out the horse finished second at Pakenham, but never looked a winning hope, but the gear change should assist in helping the three-year-old keep its mind on the job.

Race 2 tip: The Auditor to win at William Hill

Race 3 – Maiden (1500m)

We were expecting Evopex to break the maiden last time out at Geelong, but it missed out by half a length occasion. The second finsh extended its placing record to three straight, and we think the horse ready to finally win.

Race 3 tip: Evopex to win at Neds

Race 4 – Maiden (1200m)

Kingdom Tower looks ready to step out of maiden company. The five-year-old set the pace on the Geelong synthetic last time out and was nailed in the latter stages of the race. The blinkers will be applied to the gelding, which could prove all the difference.

Race 4 tip: Kingdom Tower to win William Hill

Race 5 – Benchmark 58 (1950m)

Charlie Road has been in great form recently. In four of its last five races the horse has finished inside the placings and we think it will relish the drop in trip from gate three. If the form holds up it should be the hardest horse to beat in this field.

Charlie Road is our best bet of the day at Yarra Valley

Race 5 tip: Charlie Road to win at Neds

Race 6 – Benchmark 58 (1500m)

Midas Man is second-up on Friday, where it has won previously.

The horse was a tearaway winner at Balnarring on December 9, winning by almost seven lengths. The company will obviously be a huge step up, but you can’t do much more than what Midas Man has done in the lead up to this one.

Race 6 tip: Midas Man to win at CrownBet

Race 7 – Benchmark 58 (1200m)

Destiny’s Revenge is down in class on Friday, but it is not for a lack of form. At Corowa two starts back it lost by a short-head, while the very next start it rounded out the placings behind the quality Benny Goes Berserk. The drop in grade brought about a rise in weights, but it’ll be too good in this one.

Destiny’s Revenge is our next best bet at Yarra Valley

Race 7 tip: Destiny’s Revenge to win at Sportsbet

Race 8 – Benchmark 58 (1000m)

Mykonos is at the bottom of the weights and from barrier two the speedy beginner will look to hit the front early and give them something to catch. The horse has missed the placings just once in the last six races, which has also delivered two wins. The son of Denman looks suited to this grade and will take some beating.

Race 8 tip: Mykonos to win at Crownbet
