Free form & racing tips for September 22 at Geelong

Friday racing

THE synthetic track of Geelong rounds out our work week of racing as sleepy hollow hosts seven races to guide us into the weekend.

As the sole Victorian meeting for the day, all eyes will be on the track as the country looks for something to do before AFL and NRL finals kick off.

Before you take a look at the form, take a second to consider cashing in on the bonuses of a new online bookmaker.

New customers at Crownbet can get 150 per cent of their first deposit matched up to $600 in bonus bets.

This means, if you deposit $400 you’ll have $1000 in your account ready to wager this Friday afternoon.

Race 1 – Bet365 Maiden Plate (1900m)

Miss Lillian is one of the horses to back in the opener. The filly had plenty of issues at Swan Hill on September 15, but a step up in trip, a more consistent track and in-form jockey Daniel Moor aboard all bodes well for a strong showing.

Reeh is making headway at every start and on the third time of asking we are anticipating a spike in performance. After looking miles off the mark on debut at Echuca the Hayes and Daberning runner finished in the first four at Wangaratta at the end of August. The filly reunites with Corey Parish and we are backing the three-year-old in here.

Race 2 – Maiden Plate BM70 (1000m)

Kiss The Boss looks the standout performer in this race. At the $41 quote at Sale on September 10 the horse put in a remarkable run to finish just over length behind winner Joan Constance. Filly carries bottom-weight here and will have plenty of options from barrier three.

The Freak is racing second-up on Friday where it has previously placed in the past. The five-year-old gelding is unlucky to still be in the maiden grade given its finished within a length of the winner on three occasions, and under the red-hot Jamie Mott we think the Ferchie-trained runner is a huge show.

Race 3 – Maiden Handicap (1300m)

The best bet of the opening three races is without question Uzayli. In its past five races it has finished inside the placings, four of those runs saw the horse finish within a length of the winner. It is time for the four-year-old shook the maiden tag and recorded its first-ever win.

Lilas impressed on its debut run in April and after trailing in the lead-up to this run we expect a bold showing. The Smerdon filly is highly credentialed and looms as the main threat to our elect.

Race 4 – BM64 (1900m)

Weir mare Shewearsthepants was a great winner at Benalla at the beginning of the month and looms as a back-to-back winner. The horse seems like it as the ability to be racing above this grade, but winning is the key to rise above benchmark 64 grade. We are confident another strong run is on the cards.

Lynch Mob is looking to bounce back after a poor showing at Geelong on September 3. Prior to that the gelding recorded its maiden win in great style after overcoming adversity, and under Jye McNeil, from a great barrier and with racing fitness on its side we are expecting the four-year-old to be in the finish.

Race 5 – BM58 (1100m)

After a disappointing first-up performance, Olafsson looms as a winning threat. A great second-up record of a win and a second placing from three runs boosts our confidence as does the 50 percent win record at the 1100m distance. From barrier six the horse will have plenty of opportunity to balance up and we think it will storm over the top of them.

In an oddly run race a fortnight ago Call Me Nova was the surprise packet, bursting through late to claim victory at a massive price. The horse will not go around at a similar price Friday, but a strong showing is expected under these conditions. We are not expecting the horse to be in benchmark 58 company for too long.

Race 6 – BM70 (1200m)

Lady Skills is the in-form runner in this race. Had the horse not encountered the classy Princess Of Queens midway through August it could have been hunting a hat-trick of wins. This is the mare’s first attempt at the Geelong track but two wins and two placings from seven races proves it has what it takes to win at the trip.

Rampage is third up on Friday, a point in the preparation it has won at in the past. Last time out at at Cranbourne is a total forgive job given not a lot went right, and we’re expecting a similar run at course and distance that saw the horse go down by a nose to Lycka Till.

Race 7 – BM58 (1300m)

A perfect placing record for Perfect Statue should continue in the final race on Friday’s card at Geelong. The horse loves the track after winning twice and placing another time, and while it is the first attempt at 1300m, the mare has never failed to rise to a challenge so far in its career. We’re not going to start doubting it now.

The Bont has been in hot recent form. Racing almost exclusively at Geelong in recent times the horse has a win and two placings from its last three runs. Barrier one may be a bit of a concern given its a backmarker-type, but the recent form is impossible to fault and we have to include it here.
