Doogans Rise is hunting a third-straight success and looks well placed to get the job done once again. The horse hammered the field at Wangaratta in just a slightly weaker grade than this carrying topweight, so we are anticipating another solid performance.

Race 2 – Maiden Plate (1000m)

Falling Waters has went around as a short-priced favourite in its last two races but failed to shake the maiden tag. Two starts back the horse finished second, but didn’t perform up to scratch at Moe two weeks ago. In a fairly weak maiden field the filly really should be taking this one out.

Race 3 – Maiden Plate (1200m)

Famoosa finished just one length off the winner last time out and will take plenty from that run. The filly will strip a lot fitter after resuming at the start of the month, and from barrier three will get the perfect opportunity to break through at the fifth time of asking.

Race 3 tip: Famoosa to win at Neds

Race 4 – Maiden Plate (1500m)

Fix The Date looks set for a great run third-up after a two passable races. Two starts back at Bendigo the horse finished fifth, but the result belies just how close the horse was to winning. Some of the more fancied runners are carrying a little bit more weight here so we are expecting a good race from the Barely A Moment mare.

Race 4 tip: Fix The Date to win at William Hill

Race 5 – Class 1 Handicap (1500m)

Godolphin runner Pickelhaube was a powerful winner at Wangaratta on December 5 and that run suggests the horse can be a progressive type. If the speed map holds up we could see the horse camp just behind the leaders, which would ensure the Helmet gelding will win again.

Pickelhaube is our best bet of the day at Werribee

Tycoon Kate has been great since returning in late November, but is still yet to register a win this preparation. Making headway with every start, the daughter of Written Tycoon missed out by half a length last time out and looks set to get the job done here if everything goes according to plan.

Race 6 tip: Tycoon Kate to win at CrownBet

Race 7 – Benchmark 70 (1200m)

Critical Rhythm is resuming after seven months and the horse has previously won first-up in the past. The horse has won once and finished second four times across eight runs and from barrier eight, it should have enough early speed to cross if Nathan Punch desires. Critical Rhythm looms as the winner here.

Race 8 – Benchmark 58 (1000m)

Hayes, Hayes and Daberning runner Premio Momento has been right around the mark recently and looks set for a strong run. In the last three runs the horse has had it has finished third twice and fourth last time out, but was only eight parts of a length off the winner.

Premio Momento may still be a maiden but it has the ability to beat this lot.

Race 8 tip: Premio Momento to win at Sportsbet
