Flying Murty has completed a successful three days for trainer Greg Eurell with his victory at Caulfield.

A veteran of four starts, Flying Murty had raced exclusively at Pakenham before his win in Saturday’s Next Payments Handicap.

Ridden by Nikita Beriman, Flying Murty was sent out the $3.70 favourite in beating Eclair Calling ($8) by a length with Notio ($5) three-quarters-of-a-length away third.

Eurell had a winner at Moe along with two second placings at Flemington on Wednesday before scoring a treble at Pakenham on Thursday night.

“The win of this bloke has capped off a good week,” he said.

“It was pleasing to see how he went about that today.

“He did it hard out there from the draw, but he blended into the race well and finished it off.”

Eurell said he was in no rush with Flying Murty who suffered an injury to a hind leg as a younger horse in a paddock accident.

“It was a long wait to get him to the races, but thankfully it’s been worth it so it will be interesting to see what’s available for him,” Eurell said.

“I’ve always thought he could run a mile, but at this stage I’ll see how he pulls up.

“He’s done a tremendous job for his first campaign.”
