Race 1 – Rivette Series Final (1600m)

Ruby Sea looks to have plenty of potential after winning consecutive races this campaign. The Ciaron Maher-trained filly scored an effortless 2.25-length win at Sandown last start and it has shown the ability to win from off the pace, which should suit in a race of this nature. It’s hovering around the $3.10 mark and that appears to be good early value.

Special Diva could add some value at $16 after disappointing at Moonee Valley. The Mick Price-trained filly hasn’t run well its last two since winning back-to-back races last campaign, but the talent is there and it should get a good trip in transit off the inside draw. Damien Oliver rides and it’s not without an each way chance.

Race 1 tip: Ruby Sea to win ($3.10) at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 2 – VRC-CRV Cuo Tour Trophy (2000m)

Killarney Kid is a 12-win gelding which was making good late ground last start. The Darren Weir-trained seven-year-old has won three of its five starts at Flemington which is ideal and eight of its 11 starts at this distance. Carrying 60kg won’t make it easy, but the statistics read very well and it’s paying a nice price of $5.50.

Stablemate and imported gelding Pacodali has attracted plenty of attention in the market at $4.60. The former Irish thoroughbred defeated subsequent two-time winner Yogi two starts back at Bendigo and although this is a steep rise in class, it appears to have the ability. It doesn’t show enough consistency to warrant a short quote so follow any market leads.

Race 2 tip: Killarney Kid to win ($5.50) at Ladbrokes.com.au

Race 3 – Leilani Series Final (1400m)

Schism proved too tough last start when beating a similar field at Flemington. The four-year-old has always been around the mark in its 14-start career and the six-time winner continues to give punters a good sight. It needs a good track to show its best and the light weight will take it close again at odds of $3.70.

Tsaritsa is on the drift from $4.20 to $4.50, but it could turn the tables on Schism after finishing second last start. The Chris Waller-trained four-year-old will enjoy dropping down in weight a touch and it did well to run second after missing the jump. The inside draw should switch it on and it’s a chance here.

Race 3 tip: Schism to win ($3.70) at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 4 – Taj Rossi Series Final (1600m)

Royal Symphony is the horse they all have to beat and the odds reflect that. The star two-year-old colt has scored two wins by an average of 3.5 lengths and it showed an extreme turn-of-foot when winning on this track last start. The son of Domesday could be susceptible at the distance, but the $1.50 suggests that it should be extending its unbeaten run.

Punters shouldn’t discount the chances of Anchor Bid at $14 and $3 to place. The filly by High Chaparral is bred for this distance and it had no luck behind Royal Symphony last start after getting held up in the straight. Apprentice jockey Ben Allen should be able to find a spot one out and come with a big run late.

Race 4 tip: Anchor Bid to place ($3) at Bet365.com

Race 5 – A.R. Creswick Series Final (1200m)

Invincible Al came with a big run late last start and it could turn the tables on Overstep here. The Patrick Payne-trained gelding settled well back in the field before flashing down the outside and finishing a nose away from the winner. It has drawn mid-field for this which might not suit, but expect it to be snagged back and saved for one run again. Easing with bookmakers at $4.50.

Overstep did enough to beat a similar field last start and it could repeat that feat. The Waller-trained three-year-old has won twice at Flemington down the straight which is a key stat as some horses simply don’t handle it. Drawing down on the rails won’t make it easy, but expect the field to gravitate towards centre track.

Race 5 tip: Invincible Al to win ($4.50) at CrownBet.com.au

Race 6 – Banjo Paterson Series Final (2600m)

[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1135974_06]

Charlevoix is the drifting favourite at $3.10 after opening at $2.90. The Lindsay Park-trained gelding was an impressive 1.5-length winner on this track last start and the increase in distance should only increase its chances of winning. Rising in weight is a negative for this race, but it should still run close.

Hursley doesn’t get the best of luck at times, but it never runs a bad race at Flemington. The four-year-old ran second behind Charlevoix last start after getting jostled at the top of the straight. Its racing pattern ensures that it needs some luck in running and it could finish over the top of them here if gets it. $4.60 is a fair price and the $1.85 is a nice multi-bet inclusion.

Race 6 tip: Hursley to place ($1.85) at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 7 – VRC-CRV Winter Championship (1600m)

Coldstone is making the back up after winning at Caulfield last Saturday. The Michael Kent-trained gelding had always promised plenty and winning with a big weight on its back was a good indication of its talent. This is much harder here, but it’s a fit runner and it drops right down in weight. The $8.50 on offer from bookmakers is a price worth taking.

The best-backed runner in the field is Amovatio at $7. The six-year-old opened at $9 and it’s coming off an unlucky run at Moonee Valley where it was shuffled back along the rail and was unable to recover. It likes this track with two wins from five starts and it only needs a touch of luck from wide to figure in the finish.

Race 7 tip: Coldstone to win ($8.50) at Ladbrokes.com.au

Race 8 – All Victorian Sprint Series (1200m)

Husson Eagle doesn’t win often, but punters would have been encouraged by its performance for second last start. The Payne-trained flew from last to run Ability to within a nose and it has drawn to swoop past them again. The five-time winner has won over $1 million in stakes which makes it a quality type and it could return to the winners enclosure here at odds of $6.50 after opening at $7.

Ability has amassed a nice career to date with five wins from 14 starts. The four-year-old has won its last two starts in impressive fashion and it showed good racing tactics to score at Flemington last start. It stays down in weight which is ideal and it should be competitive again at $3.10.

Race 8 tip: Ability to win ($3.10) at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 9 – Silver Bowl Series Final (1600m)

[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1135974_09]

Urban Ruler has won five from 12 starts including an impressive 1.75-length win two starts back. The Greg Eurell-trained three-year-old stormed home last start which was an encouraging run and conditions don’t change much for this. Punters are expecting a good effort having backed it in from $4.40 to $4.20.

Cannot Be Serios has been working towards a win after three good runs this preparation. The Freedman-trained gelding travelled wide at Caulfield last start and still managed to run fourth so it’s in good form and it has experience winning at the distance. Chance at $7.50.

Race 9 tip: Cannot Be Serios to win ($7.50) at CrownBet.com.au
