| Where | Epsom Downs Racecourse – Epsom, Surrey KT18 5LQ, United Kingdom |
| When | Friday, June 6, 2025 |
| First Race | 1:30pm BST (10:30pm AEST) |
Epsom Downs Racecourse is the destination for UK feature racing on Friday afternoon, with the time-honoured Group 1 Epsom Oaks (2400m) headlining a bumper seven-part program. The track is rated a Good 4 at the time of acceptances; however, with consistent rainfall forecast leading into the weekend, punters can expect a downgrade into the Soft range at some stage. Day 1 of the Epsom racing carnival is scheduled to get underway at 1:30pm BST.
Epsom Oaks Tip: Giselle
Aiden O’Brien boasts a three-pronged attack in this year’s Epsom Oaks, and while Giselle is the least favoured of the trio with horse racing bookmakers, the daughter of Frankel demands respect. She was sensational when claiming the Listed Oaks Trial (2334m) at Lingfield on May 10 and, although she only had to beat two rivals home, couldn’t have been more impressive when stretching clear by 11 lengths. She should have no issues handling the hill at Epsom, and with the Soft ground unlikely to hinder her chances, Giselle should get every chance to claim O’Brien’s 11th win the fillies classic.

Coronation Cup Tip: Calandagan
It is hard to believe Calandagan is yet to claim Group 1 success, with the son of Gleneagles finishing runner-up in his last three attempts. The Francis-Henri Graffard-trained gelding has had genuine excuses, including his latest effort in the Group 1 Sheema Classic (2400m) at Meydan on April 5, getting too far back in the ruck before exploding through the line in the final furlong. Calandagan should have no issues rounding up the field of seven in the Group 1 Coronation Cup (2400m) before pressing on to the Royal Ascot carnival.

Best Bet at Epsom: Maximized
Maximized couldn’t have been more impressive debuting at Haydock on May 22. The son of Mehmas sat on speed before putting the race to bed at the furlong pole, sprinting clear of his stable companion Time To Turn by 1.2 lengths. The Godolphin pair cleared out on the remaining rivals to suggest they may have above-average ability, and with this Class 2 contest lacking depth, this appears to be the perfect opportunity for Maximized to secure back-to-back wins.
