He had a genuine pipe-opening trial at Terang in the lead-up to this event, and considering he does his best work on firmer going, that hitout should only help him as he tries to run his rivals off their feet. Dean Holland is a massive bonus, as he has steered this bloke to victory in five of the 10 races they have competed in. With a cheap sectional or two out in front, we’re confident My Boy Birmingham can salute in the Echuca Cup and do it at a nice price with online betting sites.

Best Bet at Echuca: Lempicka
The Ken & Kasey Keys-trained Lempicka has three wins from three starts when fresh, and on her return from a four-month spell we expect that record to remain intact. The four-year-old mare also has two wins and a minor placing from four goes at the 1000m, with both wins coming fresh off a spell. Those types of numbers jump off the paper, and in a race that looks perfectly suited for her, she looks a clear best bet of the day. Considering she wants a genuine tempo in her races, Who Shot Suzy will provide just that, and as long as Patrick Moloney does not get trapped wide in the small field, we anticipate Lempicka will prove too hard to hold out in the opening leg of the quaddie.

Brent Stanley sends his four-year-old mare Dexa Bill to the Echuca 1600m, and she looks well-placed in her attempt to bring up a third win this campaign. The four-year-old mare has been there or thereabouts in recent times without much success, but from barrier one over the mile she draws to gain every advantage in running. The Fighting Sun mare boasts a record of 7: 2-2-2 at the trip, so she clearly relishes the distance, and with Kiran Quilty on board claiming 2kg, she looks well-weighted with just 58.5kg on her back. She will need a bit of luck on the home turn, but if Dexa Bill sees clear air at the right time, we’re confident she can take out what is an open event.
