What Egle Farm Races
Where Eagle Farm Racecourse – 230 Lancaster Rd, Ascot QLD 4007
When Saturday, August 21, 2021
First Race 11:30am AEST

HorseBetting’s Queensland form analyst brings you his best bets and quaddie numbers for Saturday’s nine-race card at Eagle Farm. The track is rated a Good 4 despite plenty of rain on Wednesday in the River City, and the rail goes out to the 7m position. The first race of the day will jump at 11:30am AEST as Champagne Aunty chases a third straight win as the shortest-priced favourite on the card.

Eagle Farm Best Bet: Chezblack

In a day without a great deal of appeal in some very tricky races, we have gone very wide on a couple of occasions, including here with our best bet. Chezblack comes south from Rockhampton in a bid to spoil the party at $26 in a No Metro Wins Handicap over the 1000m. The six-year-old daughter of Foxwedge charged home into the minor money at her last two starts at Callaghan Park, finishing 2.5 lengths off Aleysa’s Dream, a very good filly in Central Queensland, and Bring It Home Pop, who subsequently won at the Gold Coast. Chezblack then chased hard behind The Egyptian at Rockhampton and got within 1.75 lengths despite being beaten by the weight that day. In that race, the Shane Sigvart-trained mare ran a 10.16s split from the 600m to the 400m, which is very slick. The big straight at Eagle Farm will be to her liking, and with plenty of speed drawn all over the park from Mischief Managed, Charlie Sphene, So Clever, Je Suis Belle and Able Mable, Chezblack will be charging home late under Ron Stewart.

Best BetRace 8 – Chezblack (#7) $26 with Sportsbet

Next Best Bet at Eagle Farm: King Klaus

We cannot believe the price of King Klaus in the final race of the afternoon, especially after rounding out his last campaign with back-to-back wins in great style. The Gary Clem-trained gelding is the sort of horse anyone would love to own, winning eight of his 14 starts and placing on four other occasions. The six-year-old will be first-up (3:2-1-0) on Saturday over 1000m, a distance that he absolutely relishes (9:5-3-0), hence why we believe the double-figure quote is absurd. Drawn in barrier nine, King Klaus will be sent forward for Ron Stewart and will take some serious running down. Stewart has been on this gelding at his last two starts, so he knows what he has under him, which will be crucial given he is likely to cop a bit of pressure from You Make Me Smile and Le Palmier. King Klaus is as tough as old boots and handles any condition, so he is a great each-way bet in the get-out stakes.

Next BestRace 9 – King Klaus (#4) $10 with Sportsbet

Best Value Bet at Eagle Farm: Lunasnit

No pressure, Ron Stewart! We are tipping that the senior hoop can kick off a brilliant day in the saddle when he partners Lunasnit in a Benchmark 72 Handicap in the second race. The five-year-old daughter of Star Witness is having her first start for Barry Lockwood after being transferred from Darren Egan, who had her for nearly 12 months after gaining her from Danny O’Brien’s stable in Melbourne. Lunasnit’s last run was a cracker, and although she was beaten four lengths by handy stayer Riot Act, she put eight lengths on the third horse. The mare rises to 2206m from the 1800m last start at the Gold Coast, and while she is up in grade a few benchmark points, she only rises 0.5kg. Given the perfect draw in barrier four, she should get a lovely run in transit and be right there at the end. She was a good winner over 1900m in November, which puts her in contention in a weak staying race.

Best ValueRace 2 – Lunasnit (#10) $31 with Sportsbet
