HorseBetting’s Queensland form analyst brings you his best bets and quaddie picks for the nine-race card at Eagle Farm on Saturday, August 14. The turf is rated a Good 4 and the rail is out 5m for the entire course, which should see the track play fairly. The first race is set to jump at 11:23am AEST.

Best Bet at Eagle Farm: Profit

Chris Anderson and Jaden Lloyd combine in the fourth with the talented Profit. The son of Dundeel has a good record at this track, winning three and placing a further six times from 12 attempts at the course, with one of those victories coming first-up on May 29. While the five-year-old’s three runs since have been a touch below his best, he could easily be forgiven. Three starts back the gelding finished seventh at weight-for-age level, which was always going to be a bridge too far for him given the opposition; he then finished 3.3 lengths behind King Of Hastings in the Listed Glasshouse Handicap at the Sunshine Coast, before running third behind Emerald Kingdom and Scallopini over 1400m at this track last time out. Lloyd’s 3kg claim helps, and the step up to 1600m should be to Profit’s liking. He should simply be better than these.

Next Best at Eagle Farm: Glorious Ruby

Bryan Dais’ three-year-old filly, Glorious Ruby, returns to the track on Saturday in what looks a very winnable 1000m handicap. The daughter of Your Song has had just four career starts to date, winning two and being runner-up in the other two starts, with those two second placings being to Sweet Dolly and Swift Witness – both high quality fillies. Both wins were dominant, and she has the speed to be competitive fresh over the 1000m. While Secret Tales is the main danger on paper and, according to the market, the O’Dea and Hoysted-trained filly will be better suited to a race over a little further, which puts the ball right in Glorious Ruby’s court. Barrier four will see the in-form apprentice Leah Kilner have her settle in a gun run on the speed and with the 3kg claim, she should take some serious running down.

Best Value at Eagle Farm: Genzai The Wolf

We are putting our faith in apprentice jockeys on Saturday, with Madeleine Wishart set to combine with Genzai The Wolf in the opening leg of the Eagle Farm quaddie. David Murphy’s five-year-old entire was a good winner at this track and distance on May 29, beating Dr Why Not and Superium, with the latter a subsequent Listed winner. Genzai The Wolf has since stepped back to 1000m and was in the placings on both occasions behind one of the best horses in Queensland at the moment, Shooting For Gold. Back to 1200m on Saturday will suit this son of Bullet Train as he looks to record a third win at this track. He should get plenty of galloping room from barrier seven and be finishing off strongly over the top of what should to be a hot tempo. We are more than happy to be on at each-way odds.
