Eagle Farm racing preview

We’re back racing at Eagle Farm on Saturday with a nine-part card kicking off at 12:23pm local time. The track is currently rated a Soft 5, with the rail out 4m for the entire circumference of the course. The feature race of the day, The Gateway, is set to go at 4:52pm.

Best BetRace 8 – Profit (#5) $2.90 with Sportsbet

Chris Anderson saddles up his four-year-old gelding in The Gateway on Saturday afternoon. After putting in a fast-finishing third first up this campaign behind The Harrovian, Profit looks ready to fire on a track where he has an imposing record of two wins and four placings from seven starts. Up to a mile will suit the son of Dundeel, who’s drawn ideally in barrier one under Matthew McGillivray. While he rises 3kg, he meets arguably weaker opposition here. At $2.90, he looks a great way to get out later on in the afternoon.

Next BestRace 5 – Baby Wong (#2) $4.80 with Sportsbet

Baby Wong was heavily supported on debut at Newcastle when fourth behind the talented Sliders. He then headed up to Brisbane, where he made his way into many people’s blackbooks at just his second start by finishing half a length off Conexy, with a big margin of eight lengths back to the third horse in that race. After his first two career runs, he should be hard fit third up and much better for the experience given he is only a two-year-old. Aaron Bullock takes the ride from barrier two and will likely land just off the pace set by Rambeau and Prime Asset. The big straight at Eagle Farm looks ideal for the son of Press Statement to break through at start three.

Best ValueRace 1 – Better Lad (#6) $10 with Sportsbet

Trevor Miller’s Better Lad was desperately unlucky last start when a fast-finishing second, only half a length off Dzsenifer at the Sunshine Coast. The 1400m looks to suit the three-year-old by Better Than Ready. Drawn barrier eight, Tegan Harrison will land off what looks to be a hot tempo set by Dusty Tycoon, Good Chat and Brannigan, which will help set him up to flash home late over the seven-furlong journey. While the likes of Good Chat and Palladas will take some serious beating, Better Lad has been racing in consistent form, he should be suited by Eagle Farm and will have the tempo in the race to suit.
