First Race 12:33pm AEST

HorseBetting’s Queensland form analyst brings you his best bets and quaddie numbers for the eight-race metropolitan card at Eagle Farm on Wednesday, September 8. The track is rated a Good 4, and the rail will be in the 10m position following Saturday’s meeting there. The first race is set to jump at 12:33pm AEST.

Eagle Farm Best Bet – Contemptuous

We tipped this bloke last week and he was scratched due to drawing barrier 15, so we should definitely see him start on Wednesday from the inside alley. The Steven O’Dea & Matthew Hoysted-trained Contemptuous has won three from eight and placed in a further four races, including a first-up second to Tramonto, who has since justified that form when second to Desert Lord in the Listed Goldmarket Handicap at the Gold Coast. The five-year-old son of Rubick has solid form around Weona Smartone, Amiche, The Move and Dr Why Not, so he shouldn’t have any issues dealing with this Class 3 field over 1000m. Expect Bayleee Nothdurft to take the entire forward and make every post a winner.

Next Best at Eagle Farm – Peppi La Few

Trent & Toby Edmonds will saddle up Peppi La Few in the second race of the day, a 1400m Open Handicap. The six-year-old gelding has had a bit of trouble getting a win on the board this campaign with consecutive runner-up performances behind subsequent Group 2 winner Phobetor, Bring It Home Pop and Royal Hale. Brad Stewart is one of Queensland’s best hoops, so having him retain the ride is a big plus, as is the soft draw from the inside of the six-horse field. Royal Hale was too slick for the son of Pierro last time over 1200m, so we expect that a softer run in transit and stepping out to 1400m should be right up Peppi La Few’s alley.

Next BestRace 2 – Peppi La Few (#4) $1.80 with Sportsbet

Eagle Farm Value Bet – Lunasnit

Barry Lockwood nearly landed the plunge with this mare last start over 2200m at this track after she was backed in from $31 into $7.50 and beaten the smallest of margins by Top Order, who franked the form by winning again here on Saturday. The start prior, Lunasnit ran second at the Gold Coast when putting eight lengths on the third horse, albeit beaten four lengths by Riot Act, who meets our girl again here at level weights. Riot Act has been back to the races and won by a similar margin again, so we expect him to come up short in the market and thus inflate the price of Lunasnit, who continues to race well and has the Eagle Farm box ticked. From barrier 10, Larry Cassidy is likely to settle in the second half of the field and have this mare doing her best work late.

Best ValueRace 7 – Lunasnit (#12) $7 with Sportsbet
