Eagle Farm racing preview – Thursday, January 28
Eight races have been scheduled for Eagle Farm on Thursday afternoon. The track is a Good 4 and the rail is in the +12m position, so we expect to see it favour those on pace. Race 1 is set to jump at 1:45pm local time.
Best Bet: Busted Up
Clinton Taylor may have unveiled a budding star in Busted Up at Mackay two starts back, and he justified the Winx-like odds at Rockhampton a fortnight ago to win by seven lengths. He has drawn the outside alley here in the small field of five, but Justin Stanley knows the horse well and should have no trouble getting the lightly raced four-year-old up on the speed. The big straight at Eagle Farm will suit as it is similar to Rockhampton, and he should be close enough to the speed in the small field to put this lot to bed.

Next Best: Fairy Me Home
Chris Waller and Ron Stewart combine in the fifth with consistent galloper Fairy Me Home in a 1600m Class 3. In his last nine starts he has only missed the places four times, with one of them being last start when first up to finish fourth here behind Couldn’t Refuse. Again, he has drawn the outside alley in the field of eight, but we suspect that Stewart will take him forward and look to sit outside the leader. Second up and staying at the mile should see him too fit and too good for these.

Best Value: Ashman
Ashman looks well placed here at Benchmark 78 level over 1400m. The top weight has the benefit of a 3kg claim thanks to the booking of Emily Atkinson, which is a big plus for the five-year-old gelding. Drawn the inside alley, he should go straight to the front, dictate terms and prove too good for these. This is a big drop in grade and the opposition is much weaker than his last couple of runs, so with 58.5kg on his back he should lead all the way.
