What Dubbo Races
Where Dubbo Turf Club – Merrilea Rd, Dubbo NSW 2830
When Monday, June 26, 2023
First Race 11:45am AEST

Country racing heads to Dubbo on Monday afternoon for a stacked program of nine races set for decision. The rail is out +3m between the 900m to 400m but will remain in the True position for the remainder of the course. At the time of writing, the track is listed as a Soft 7; however, with a promising forecast across the weekend, we’re playing for an upgrade into the Good range come race-day. The first race is set to get underway at 11:45am AEST.

Best Bet at Dubbo: Croatian Madame

It had taken a while for Croatian Madame to break her maiden status, but since doing that back in March, she’s been a model of consistency. She won again two starts back at Bathurst before never seeing daylight at her latest effort at Newcastle on June 19. It was a glorified barrier trial for this daughter of Denman as she couldn’t get off the inside running rail while heading to post under her own steam. This time, drawn barrier five in a much weaker race should see Croatian Madame recapture her best form, and this time with luck should be hard to beat.

Best Bet

Race 1 – Silk #4 Croatian Madame (5)

5yo Mare | T: Jeremy Gask | J: Grant Buckley (57.5kg)

$2.40 with Neds

Next Best at Dubbo: Eagledge

Eagledge did enough on debut to suggest he should only be improving second-up into his campaign. He was strong at Tamworth on June 9 when getting into a duel turning for home with the eventual winner, Frosbie, but stuck to the task well. He knuckled down to only be beaten by a nose on the line and after kicking off his career over 1200m, we don’t mind him stepping back in trip here to 1100m. He’ll jump from the inside draw (2) and should head straight to the front. From there, we expect Eagledge to give a bold sight – hopefully going one placing better this time.

Next Best

Race 2 – Silk #2 Eagledge (2)

3yo Gelding | T: Lyle Chandler | J: Ashley Morgan (59kg)

$2.20 with Unibet

Best Value at Dubbo: Soul Night

Soul Night made her return from a lengthy 252-day spell at Dubbo on June 9 and the market seems to be respecting that form. Maryland Bridge ran second that day and seems to be the black booker for most pundits; however, we want to make a case for Soul Night at the much more backable price. She was beaten 3.2 lengths on that occasion but did get a checkered passage when turning for home. She trailed Maryland Bridge once getting clear and we thought produced a run with plenty of merit. The $34 on offer with the top bookmakers is too good to pass up on the each-way basis and considering the price, we’re willing to take the risk Soul Night can turn the tables to some extent.

Best Value

Race 3 – Silk #10 Soul Night (9)

4yo Mare | T: Brett Robb | J: Kody Nestor (57.5kg)

$34 with Palmerbet
