HorseBetting’s Queensland racing analyst brings you his best bets and quaddie numbers for the eight-race program at Doomben on Wednesday. Racing on a predicted Soft 6 with the rail in the 7m position, horses that are drawn low and can hold a position in the run are likely to be advantaged. The first race is set to jump at 12:33pm AEST.
Tony Gollan saddles up Liza With A Zee in the fifth on Wednesday in a bid to make it the filly’s fourth win in six runs this campaign. The daughter of Zoustar has been partnered by three different jockeys in her three wins so far, and again she will get the services of a new hoop this time in apprentice Leah Kilner. Drawn well in barrier three, the three-year-old will be sent to the front with 54kg on her back – thanks to Kilner’s 3kg claim – and will take some serious running down at a track where she broke her maiden by 3.5 lengths last May. This is another winnable race for her.
Another of Tony Gollan’s three-year-old fillies who we are confident can go back-to-back is She’s An Eagle. While this daughter of Spirit Of Boom is nowhere near as genuine as Liza With A Zee, winning only one from eight, she comes into this off the back of a nice breakout win at this track on June 23rd over 1660m. Going down previously in three consecutive starts as a favourite, she made sure of it last time out when sent around as a $1.35 chance to win by 1.25 lengths. Drawn in barrier eight on Wednesday, Jake Bayliss will take over and should be able to either find the front or box seat behind Annabeth and Birkin Black, who both also show speed. If the switch has been flicked over, she can win again.
