Doomben betting preview – February 11, 2021
Doomben will play host to eight races on Thursday afternoon for Queensland’s midweek metropolitan meeting. The track is currently a Soft 5, the rail is out +11m for the entire circumference, and the first race is set to jump at 1:55pm local time.
Best Bet: Le Heros
Paul Duncan saddles up his maiden galloper Le Heros in a 1350m maiden. The son of Kermadec has four placings from his five career starts, including a good third at Eagle Farm last time out over 1400m. Mark Du Plessis stays aboard and will hope for a similar ride to last time. From barrier four, Le Heros can be in a prominent position and look to be unleashed in the straight. He has form around Hancora Field, One Shy Ruby and I Am Thirty, so it should only be a matter of time until he breaks through.

Next Best: All But Gone
Damien Lane and Ryan Maloney combine in the second with nine-year-old gelding All But Gone. After winning at Port Macquarie three back, the gelding has been in the placings in his two most recent runs, including a third at Canterbury last time out behind Bergen. That form should stand up against this lot in a Benchmark 68. There is enough speed in the race to let him get a cart into it and then give it a shake late.

Best Value: Rari
Rari has finished second in his last two starts behind handy ones Georgie’s Pride and She Can Sing. Georgie’s Pride has since won again, and She Can Sing holds a nomination for a Group 2 at Sydney this Saturday, so it’s clear that neither are slouches. Rari is now third up and gets to Doomben for the first time, which will be a positive given his racing pattern. From barrier three, we expect to see him box seat under Sheriden Tomlinson and be too good in the straight at peak fitness.
