| Where | Donald Racecourse – Racecourse Rd, Donald VIC 3480 |
| When | Sunday, November 17, 2024 |
| First Race | 1:30pm AEDT |
Country racing in Victoria heads to Donald on Sunday afternoon where the $70,000 Donald Cup (1620m) headlines proceedings on the eight-race card. Warm conditions are forecast throughout the day, so the Good 4 rating should hold, whilst the rail sticks to its true position the entire circuit. Donald Cup Day 2024 is set to commence at 1:30pm AEDT.
Donald Cup Tip: Beltoro
Beltoro has not won in over 18 months, but if he brings his best, he looks the best horse in the 2024 Donald Cup. The seven-year-old gelding was afforded zero luck last time out at Morphettville when chasing home Air Assault in Listed company. He was forced to ravel wide without cover for a large portion of the race, and still finished on the heels of the placegetters. From barrier three, getting caught wide will be no issue on Sunday, and with a strong finishing burst, Beltoro should prove too hard to hold out.

Best Bet at Donald: Easy Dun
Easy Dun was average at best when disappointing as favourite at Bendigo last time out, but the way he hit the line the start prior, suggests this BM64 is his for the taking if good enough. He was racing competitively in black-type company during the Queensland winter so clearly brings and element of class to the opening leg of the quaddie. Declan Bates will have the son of Dundeel settled at the rear of the field, from where he should just prove too strong late. Anything better than even money with is overs.

Next Best at Donald: Juggernaut Joan
First-up from a spell, the Patrick & Michelle Payne-trained Juggernaut Joan looks well placed to break maiden ranks at the third time of asking. The four-year-old mare managed to finish second behind a couple of handy city-class types in her initial campaign and this looks to be a touch easier. Jake Noonan will take the Puissance De Lune mare towards the rear of the field, but with a genuinely run 1350m event expected, the race sets up perfectly for Juggernaut Joan to be launching down the heart of the track.
