Jockey Damian Lane has had his joy of riding Humidor to victory in the Group One Memsie Stakes at Caulfield soured by a suspension.

Racing Victoria stewards suspended Lane for 10 meetings on a careless riding charge stemming from his ride on Humidor.

Lane, who rode four winners at Saturday’s meeting, will start the suspension after riding at Geelong on Sunday.

The suspension means he misses the ride on the Darren Weir-trained Nature Strip in next weeks McEwen Stakes at Moonee Valley but will return to partner Humidor in the Group One Makybe Diva Stakes at Flemington on September 15.

Stewards have adjourned an inquiry into John Allen’s handling of last-placed Big Duke in the Listed Heatherlie Stakes (1700m).
