Cranbourne Turf Club is scheduled to host an eight-part card on Thursday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s Victorian horse racing analyst presents his best bets and free quaddie numbers for the meeting. The track is rated a Heavy 8 with the rail set true from 1600m to 1000m and then out 3m for the remainder, while racing is set to get underway at 1pm AEST.
Cranbourne Best Best: Lunares
We were with Lunares when she was a good thing beaten over this track and distance on June 23, and we expect with even luck she will win this. The Mathew Ellerton & Simon Zahra-trained three-year-old filly has now put in four straight runner-up performances, but Thursday looks to be the day she breaks her maiden. She has shown plenty of early toe to overcome the tricky draw in barrier 10, and her solid record on rain-affected suggests she will be too good for her rivals with Ben Melham on board.

Next Best at Cranbourne: Alexander Hamilton
In the opening leg of the quaddie, the Rachael Frost-trained Alexander Hamilton returns to Cranbourne, a track where he has had one start for one win. He is on the quick eight-day backup, which should suit him perfectly, and considering two of his three wins have come on rain-affected ground, he looks hard to hold out. Remi Tremsal hops back on board having partnered the Redwood gelding to all three of his wins to date, and from barrier two they should not be far away in the running throughout. While this is only his second go at 2025m, Alexander Hamilton has shown he can stay all day.
Race 5 – Alexander Hamilton (#2)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1373946_05]
Cranbourne Value Bet: Swinging Sword
In the third leg of the quaddie, Mathew Ellerton & Simon Zahra saddle up another who – like Lunares in the fourth – is out to break a streak of runner-up performances. Swinging Sword has begun her campaign with consecutive second-place finishes, but on Thursday she looks perfectly placed to get back into the winner’s stall. The Written Tycoon mare has the early speed to overcome the widest barrier, so Damien Thornton should take her to the rail and look to dictate terms before letting her kick clear to bring up a deserved win at nice odds.
Race 7 – Swinging Sword (#12)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1373946_07]
