Cranbourne Races Betting Preview, 13th December 2020

A seven race card is set down for judgement on Sunday afternoon in Victoria’s south-east at Cranbourne. With a top of 32 forecasted for the region and racing on a good 4 we’re set fair for a small but competitive card of racing. With the rail out to the 9m mark tactics will be crucial, but each runner should get their chance in these conditions.

The first at Cranbourne is set to jump at 1:10pm AEDT.

Best BetRace 4 – Dragon Time (#1) $2.35 with Sportsbet

Coming off an impressive victory at Sandown last week, the Frankie Stockdale trained four-year-old gelding looks well placed to string together consecutive victories after showing consistent form prior to that maiden victory at Sandown. From barrier six, Arron Lynch will look to go towards the rear of the field, but with a small field engaged he shouldn’t be far off the leaders as they turn and will have the last look at them as he possesses a turn of foot many of his rivals seemingly don’t have. The main danger comes from the Phillip Stokes stable, but considering he went down as a $1.90 shot last time out we’re happy to take him on and make Dragon Time our best bet of the day at Cranbourne on Sunday.

Next BestRace 3 – Nota Single Secret (#6) $2.90 with Sportsbet

Mick Price and Michael Walker combine in an effort to look to break the maiden tag of this four-year-old mare. She went within a neck of breaking her maiden last time out at Echuca upon resumption, and should benefit from the five week freshen up between runs. She’s had three starts in her career and has ran into the money on two occasions, and meets a maiden here which looks pretty thin. She maps to be up on speed from the wide barrier, and as long as she doesn’t get trapped wide without cover she should be too hard to go past late on in the piece.

Best ValueRace 6 – Floreat Pica (#6) $4.80 with Sportsbet

It’s hard to be too confident about a galloper who has only won once from 16 attempts, yet the Gavin Bedggood gelding looks well placed to bring up career win number two. He has been far from disgraced in both efforts this campaign and this looks to be a touch easier than those races he has been competing in. With a fast tempo expected, there should be no issue with him settling towards the rear of the field and storming home late to get the job done in the penultimate event on the Cranbourne card.
