Cranbourne night racing tips & form for Friday, January 12
FRIDAY night racing is back at Cranbourne as everyone’s favourite outer Melbourne track hosts a nine race card to lead us into the weekend.
There’s plenty of gallopers running around that we’ve had an eye on over the last few months and we’re looking forward to seeing what they can produce under the Friday night lights.

Race 1 – Maiden Plate (1600m)

Superior Rose is making headway every start this preparation and in a smaller field it looks well placed break through. The horse drops in weight slightly after its second placed finished at Cranbourne and we believe it’ll breakthrough here.

American Storm has an awful draw but if it gets across cheaply it is taking this out. The horse may look to slot in behind some of the leaders given there is a huge amount of speed, and we think American Storm has a lot of potential.

Amastryker is winning this race. The horse has been so close to breaking through nearly every time it takes to the track and we believe it has a bring career ahead of it.

Bella Ricompensa stands out like a sore thumb in a weak maiden. The horse finished second last time out at Stony Creek, and while it never truly threatened the winner we think it looms as the best lead-in to this race.

Race 5 – Maiden Plate (1400m)

Fontein Ali handles a tricky draw, but third-up – where it has previously placed at in the past – we think it looms as a winning hope. Last time out it missed out by half a length an it looks well placed to breakthrough here.

Race 6 – Benchmark 78 (3000m)

Crafty Cruiser has not finished worse than second across its last two runs over the 3000m distance and looks well placed to go well here. The horse is a genuine two miler and we think it can bounce back in style here after dropping back in trip without success.

Race 7 – Benchmark 64 (2025m)

We’re big fans of Considering and we are backing it in here. The horse has won back-to-back events, and while it rises slightly in weight Considering drops in grade. Back the mare in.

Race 8 – Benchmark 64 (1000m)

For A Song draws wide and a heavy weight, but under a claim from 18-year-old Tommy Stockdale it comes in nicely. The horse jumps from barrier 11 so we expect it to spear across and attempt to take it out from the front.

Kentucky Flyer resumed well last time out, claiming third in a tricky race. The horse has won second-up in the past and we expect it to be right in the mix here.
