First Race 5:30pm AEST

Cranbourne hosts a mammoth nine-part card as the night racing season in Victoria rolls on for another week, and HorseBetting.com.au has all the top odds, best bets and quaddie numbers for Friday’s meeting. The track has come up a Soft 6, the rail is out 7m for the entire circuit, and racing is set to get underway at 5:30pm AEST.

Best Bet: Five Bulls

Nick Ryan will saddle up Five Bulls, who comes to Cranbourne with consecutive runner-up performances next to his name. Getting the blinkers on for the first time will only benefit his chances, and in what looks to be a pretty thin maiden, natural progression should see the son of Stratum break through at start four. From barrier one, he is expected to settle just off the heels of the leader, and with a little bit of luck he should be hard to hold out.

Best BetRace 1 – Five Bulls (#2) $2.10 with Sportsbet

Next Best: Ocular

The Shea Eden-trained Ocular has not been seen since he was well beaten in the VOBIS Gold Bullion in December. Having trialled up nicely under a hold a fortnight ago, he looks to have returned in even better form than he was in prior to his spell. Despite needing to lug 63kg around, he is only 5kg off the minimum weight and from barrier two should get an economical run in transit. With his main rival, Galenus, expected to be up on speed, Ocular will need to be at his best to get the job done, but his best is lengths better than what he meets here on Friday night.

Next BestRace 8 – Ocular (#1) $4.40 with Sportsbet

Best Value: Jaffastock

In the final event on the Cranbourne card, the Busuttin & Young-trained Jaffastock returns from a six-month spell and looks well placed to bring up a second win from three career starts. The son of Tavistock has been gelded since we last saw him at Caulfield, where he ran behind Embolism and Miss Inbetween. Having won a trial in impressive fashion a fortnight ago, he looks to have returned in fine form. Also, he has won first up in the past.

Best ValueRace 9 – Jaffastock (#6) $6 with Sportsbet
