THE summer racing continues at Caulfield this Saturday with a premier nine-race card.

Despite there being no major races scheduled, the fields have stacked up nicely which will give punters of all varieties a great chance of making some money.

The action kicks off with the Peter Siggins Plate for the juveniles where punters have launched into a debut winner which looks to be going places.

Race 1 – Peter Siggins 2YO Plate (1100m)

Property has no trial form, but its jumpouts have been solid. The Robert Smerdon-trained gelding was a $130,000 purchase and although the breeding isn’t fantastic, it has been supported in the betting. The son of Starcraft opened at $5 and is currently at $4.20.

Catchy was a stylish winner on debut at Moonee Valley. The Hayes/Dabernig-trained filly didn’t have the best of luck during the run, but it sprouted wings late to score a narrow win over Garrard. The daughter of Fastnet Rock looks tough to beat with Craig Williams in the saddle and we’re expecting its current price of $1.85 to firm.

Siam has also come in for some backing. The John O’Shea-trained colt opened at $6 and is currently at $5.50 to win. The son of Exceed And Excel is a nicely-bred type which is expected to run well with Dwayne Dunn in the saddle.

Race 1 tip: Catchy to win ($1.85) at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 2 – IKE Hollingworth Handicap (1100m)

Niall Phillips lines up Mr Dashing which won its first two career starts by a combined margin of eight lengths. The son of Moshe ran second at Moonee Valley last start, but it was no match for the winner. It will appreciate the rise back up in distance and $5.50 is a fair price from bookmakers.

Nasdex is a winner of one race from four starts and it has a fair amount of ability. The Ciaron Maher-trained gelding won by 3.25 lengths at Geelong two back before running third behind the highly-talented Derryn on this track. That was a solid effort in a good field and this looks much easier. Would prefer it with a race under its belt, but the $4.50 is worth taking.

Amadeus has come in from $6 to $5 after its last start fifth. The Mick Kent-trained four-year-old ran on well at Sandown last start which is a good indication for this and it has form behind some nice types. It ran second behind Silent Sedition in the Bendigo Guineas which is strong carnival form. Chance here at each way odds.

Race 2 tip: Nasdex to win ($4.50) at WilliamHill.com.au

Race 3 – Raymond Deagan Handicap (1200m)

Crystal Dreamer has looked good winning its last two and it again makes the rise in grade. The Ellerton/Zahra-trained gelding is a three-time winner at this distance which reads well and it has strengthened up nicely with two runs this campaign. $3.90 on offer to continue its winning streak.

Cana is a tough runner to follow, but its last two starts have been encouraging. The Hawkes-trained sprinter won at Rosehill two starts back which was followed by a placing at Moonee Valley. It has placed twice from five starts at Caulfield with its latest run here coming at stakes level, so consider at odds of $4.

Danuki only struggled last start at Flemington, but it was in career-best form prior to that. The Clinton McDonald-trained gelding strung three consecutive wins together which included a 2.5-length win at Geelong. It runs best when setting the tempo and it shouldn’t be overlooked at $7.

Race 3 tip: Danuki to place ($2.35) at Bet365.com

Race 4 – Margot McCluskey Handicap (1400m)

No Tan Tat scored an easy 2.5-length win at Geelong last start and it looks good enough for this level. The Greg Eurell-trained filly finished a close second at its first two career starts and it will get all favours from the inside draw. Nicely bred type which should go close at $5.

Kenedna returned to form with a last start win, after a string of average efforts. The Darren Weir-trained filly won five starts back at Geelong, but it couldn’t muster the same speed in two city-graded races. The win at Echuca had some merit last start and it has been well backed into $4.60.

Invictum Domina is a consistent type which fought well behind Fille Champagne last start. The three-year-old by I Am Invincible has either won or placed in its last five starts and it looks a strong each way chance again. Beau Mertens takes 2kg off its back and the $4.60 is the right price.

Race 4 tip: No Tan Tat to place ($1.90) at CrownBet.com.au

Race 5 – Ian Morrison Handicap (1700m)

Royal Applause has been close this campaign without winning. The four-year-old has finished second in four of its last five starts and punters are once again expecting a good run. It is currently $5.50 for the win with Craig Williams in the saddle and the $2.15 for the place looks a good betting options given its history.

Folk Tales has drifted from its opening quote of $4.80 to $5, despite having won impressively at its last two starts. The Richard Laming-trained gelding only defeated a class one field last start, but that came by over four lengths and it looked to have plenty in hand. Its breeding suggests it will only get better with more distance so include it in selections here.

On Wings is a solid each way chance at $8.50. The Weir-trained gelding is looking to rebound after an average showing at Sandown last start and it has the potential to push them close. The four-year-old was a one-length winner three starts back and the 1.5kg claim is helpful.

Race 5 tip: Folk Tales to win ($5) at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 6 – Mary Lewis Handicap (1100m)

Lyuba is a professional mare for trainer Darren Weir which was unlucky in defeat at Caulfield last start. The four-year-old entered the race having won its last two starts and with a little more luck it would have made it three. It stays in the same grade for this and with a better ride from apprentice Ben Allen, expect it to be fighting out the finish at odds of $5.50.

Ameristralia finished fifth behind Sheidel in the Northwood Plume last start which is cracking form for this. The Hawkes-trained mare rattled off three consecutive wins prior to that which included a 2.75-length win at Caulfield and it only needs luck from the tricky draw to feature here. It opened short at $1.95, but has subsequently drifted out to $2.05.

Chiavari is a four-win mare which has placed twice at Caulfield. The five-year-old won well at Moonee Valley five starts back and has since placed on three occasions. It hit the line well behind Divine Mr Artie last start and that form should hold up. Chance at $7.

Race 6 tip: Ameristralia to win ($2.05) at Bet365.com

Race 7 – Swettenham Stud Summer Championships Heat (1800m)

Plein Ciel is a quality import which has scored three impressive victories since arriving in Australia. The Weir-trained four-year-old scored a 3.25-length win at Caulfield and the rise in grade here shouldn’t hold any worries. The German-bred import will get a soft run from the barrier and be tough to beat at $2.35.

Cool Chap is becoming expensive for punters, but it has been well backed into $7 after opening at $8. The Freedman-trained gelding is a past winner on this track and it should find this easier than the Ballarat Cup last start. Rises right up in weight, but consider on an each way basis.

Rewarding Effort has looked good winning its last two starts and it’s not without a chance here. The Cindy Alderson-trained gelding was too good for them last time out and it might get one last shot at them. It opened at $4.60, but has drifted out to $4.80.

Race 7 tip: Plein Ciel to win ($2.35) at WilliamHill.com.au

Race 8 – Swettenham Stud Summer Championships Heat 8 (1600m)

Hellova Street didn’t quite fire at Flemington when it last raced in Melbourne, but its form in Tasmania was strong leading into this. The six-year-old finished second in the Tasmanian Stakes behind Admiral last start and any form around Admiral should be considered.

Mihany is a nine-win gelding which has yet to perform at its best at Caulfield, but it’s a five-time winner at this distance. The five-year-old is drawn awkwardly in barrier 10 for this, but it gets 2kg off its back and it should be considered at $5.

Chance To Dance opened at $8 and has dropped into $5. The imported runner for Team Williams had a solid Melbourne spring carnival in 2015 before having only three runs last year. The tote support is a good betting guide, so watch for any further pushes.

Race 8 tip: Mihany to place ($1.90) at CrownBet.com.au

Race 9 – David McGee Handicap (1400m)

King’s Command was running on well last start on this track and it should be considered. The five-year-old was a winner at Moonee Valley three back and it should get a good run from barrier three. Ben Thompson takes 2kg off its back so consider at $4.

In Fairness is a five-win gelding which was run down at Caulfield last start. The son of Denman was a winner two back by 2.25 lengths over Lunar Spin and that form is strong at this level. Having Ben Allen in the saddle should be a help so consider at $5.50.

Bradman is a consistent runner which has progressed well this campaign. The seven-year-old finished hard at Caulfield last start when second and it won’t have to improve much to feature in the placings.

Race 9 tip: King’s Command to win ($4) at Bet365.com
