Best Bet at Caulfield Heath: Changing Colours
Changing Colours has been impressive in both starts this campaign, and the step up to the mile should suit. The Chris Waller-trained mare sprinted sharply from the rear of the field at Flemington last time out, going down by a half-length in a race dominated by on-pace runners. Drawn in barrier two, Ben Melham will need a touch of luck in the straight to have The Autumn Sun progeny in clear air, but otherwise Changing Colours should have no issue in overhauling her rivals.
Best Bet
Race 5 –
#2 Changing Colours (10)
4yo Mare | T: Chris Waller | J: Ben Melham (59.5kg)
Next Best at Caulfield Heath: Wiltshire Square
Wiltshire Square has not been seen on race day since struggling in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m), but her form prior to that suggests she should be too good for her rivals here. The two-year-old filly kept being overhauled by the likes of Palm Angel and My Gladiola last time out, but it should be a different story against a bunch of first-starters. Ethan Brown will look to control proceedings throughout, and Wiltshire Square should prove too hard to run down.
Next Best
Race 2 –
#14 Wiltshire Square (8)
2yo Filly | T: Ciaron Maher | J: Ethan Brown (56kg)
Best Value at Caulfield Heath: Blue Stratum
Blue Stratum put in a stinker first-up at Echuca on April 18 but had plenty of excuses. The three-year-old gelding won a trial at this track prior to his fresh run, and considering he is already a winner second-up, he looks primed to bounce back. With Logan Bates claiming 3kg, the son of Blue Point will look to stalk the speed throughout from barrier one, and if the gap appears at the right time, Blue Stratum can assert his class late over 1000m.
Best Value
Race 7 –
#1 Blue Stratum (1)
3yo Gelding | T: Tony & Calvin McEvoy | J: Logan Bates (62.5kg)
