Sunshine Coast trainer Kristie Clark-Peoples has had some more than handy horse but she can’t remember having more fun with one than record-breaking speedster Captain Parker.

The gelding began his racing in South Australia where he had 14 starts for one win in a Gawler Maiden in October 2015.

Since being picked up by Clark-Peoples, Captain Parker has proved a trainer’s dream.

In 10 starts for Clark-Peoples, he has won three times, been second five times and third twice.

At his most recent run Captain Parker set a Kilcoy track record for 1060m of 1:01.50 which has encouraged Clark-Peoples to try him in city class.

Captain Parker will be having his first Brisbane start in Saturday’s Cascade Plate (1050m) at Doomben where he has drawn barrier two.

“Kilcoy is a real speed track and a lot of fast horses run there so to break the record was something special,” Clark-Peoples said.

“I don’t run my horses in city class unless they have earned it and he has certainly done that. He has a couple of placings behind Malvern Estate who is very promising so it gives us a good idea that he will be up to city class.”

Veteran jockey Gary Geran will make a rare Brisbane appearance to ride Captain Parker.
