Capacity field declared for Caulfield Cup
A capacity field of 18 plus two emergencies has accepted for the $5 million Caulfield Cup.
Following weeks of speculation on the number of international runners in Saturday’s 2400m handicap, seven will take their place.
Of the overseas brigade, Best Solution, The Cliffsofmoher, Chestnut Coat, Duretto, Red Verdon and Sole Impact are continuing their training at the Werribee quarantine centre.
German stayer Sound Check has been shifted to Flemington to be trained by Mike Moroney.
Best Solution, trained by Saeed bin Suroor, will carry topweight with the pre-draw $5 favourite Youngstar to carry the number 18 saddlecloth.
The Darren Weir-trained Gallic Chieftain snuck into the field as number 18 on the ballot order with Patrick Erin first emergency ahead of Jaameh.
The barrier draw will be decided at 11am on Wednesday.
