HorseBetting’s NSW form analyst brings you his top betting tips and quaddie numbers for Canterbury Park’s metropolitan meeting on Wednesday, June 23. The six-race program will be run on a Heavy 8 surface, while the rail is out 6m for the entire course. The first race is set to jump at 1:20pm, with the final race of the day due to go around at 4:20pm.
Canterbury Best Bet: Miss In Charge
Kris Lees and Hugh Bowman have a handy filly in the opener with Miss In Charge, and we are confident that she can break through on Wednesday. The two-year-old daughter of Hinchinbrook debuted in the Listed Calaway Gal and finished fourth behind Sweet Dolly and Fake Love before running fifth in the Aquis Gold Pearl. First-up this campaign she finished third to Verne, who has since won again. Rising to 1250m will suit, and from the inside alley Bowman can hunt up and be prominent before presenting the filly in the straight.

Next Best at Canterbury: Kutayha
Chris Waller’s four-year-old gelding Kutayha only raced on Saturday at Rosehill when third in a top race behind No Compromise and Lackeen, so if he doesn’t start on Wednesday, that will be why. In saying that, he hit the line very strongly on the Heavy 8 over 2000m, and although this is 100m shorter, the wet track again will make it feel like a fair slog. Drawn wide, Kerrin McEvoy will take the son of Savabeel back and have him finishing strongly.
Race 4 – Kutayha (#2)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1372661_04]
Canterbury Value Bet: Jungle Book
Clare Cunningham and Jason Collett combine in the last with the consistent Jungle Book. The five-year-old gelding has won nine of 48 and has a good strike rate on rain-affected tracks. The son of Animal Kingdom raced seven days ago on the Kensington track when sixth but was ridden poorly, in our opinion, so the quick backup should suit. Back to the 1550m and onto a Heavy 8 will work in Jungle Book’s favour, and there is a touch of overs about the odds on offer at Australia’s best bookmakers.
