Canterbury Park racing preview
Canterbury will host eight night races this Friday evening from 5:45pm local time. The track is rated a Good 4, with the rail out +6m. Let’s take a look at the latest odds and best bets on offer at Australia’s top online bookmakers.
Race 8 – Raison D’etre (#12)Godolphin filly Raison D’etre looks a great way to end the night at a very backable price. She has been up for a while now, given she won her maiden back in August, but the big gaps between runs and the trip to Melbourne would have done her the world of good. Canterbury is where she broke her maiden stylishly, so with even luck she can do that again. The speed on will suit, as she will sit off them and unleash with her late sprint.
Race 5 – Smart Image (#3)Peter and Paul Snowden saddle up Smart Image, who returns since failing on a very heavy track early in the Spring Carnival when finishing eight lengths off North Pacific. He’s had two trials leading up to this and has won impressively when first up in the past. Back on to a dry track will suit him down to the ground as he looks to get back in the winner’s stall. Kerrin McEvoy will ride from barrier nine, which will see him flashing late.
Race 7 – So United (#11)Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott’s three-year-old gelded son of So You Think is shooting for two on the trot at this course after a dominant all-the-way win here a fortnight ago. He does rise in grade, but he also drops 2.5kg. Under Brenton Avdulla, he maps to get a comfortable lead which will see him ultra hard to catch. Up to 1900m will suit here, which makes him a great each-way play.
