Race 1 – Ascot Restaurant Maiden Plate (1200m)

Duchess Pedrille is looking to go one better after finishing second in two of its last three races. The filly has missed out by a combined one length in both of those races and looks like it can be a progressive type once it breaks the maiden.

Chris Waller-trained Sepoy Acheva is the next best prospect in the race. The three-year-old has placed in 83 percent of its races and an elusive win should be just around the corner. A lot like Duchess Pedrille, the filly has the potential to progress quickly through the grades once it wins its first race.

Race 1 tip: Duchess Pedrille to win ($4.40) at Crownbet.com.au

Race 2 – All Too Hard@Vinery OSC (1550m)

All Too Soon comes into this race as an excellent winning chance strong trial performances and a decent debut at Rosehill at the beginning of the month. The horse was hampered at the jump but still managed to finish inside the first four and will take a lot from its maiden race.

Peter and Paul Snowden runner Hypnotist is looking to maintain a perfect racing record after two successful runnings at Beaumont. The son of Snitzel raises 3kgs in weight but there is no reason to believe the winning form will not continue in the city.

Race 2 tip: Hypnotist to win (+170) at CrownBet.com.au

Race 3 – TAB.com.au (BM64)

The Pharoah is second up on Wednesday and ready for a sharp improvement after a first up failure. The colt finished sixth of nine runners upon resumption, but this week’s meet at Canterbury sees the horse return to a venue where it has never lost. It is also unbeaten second up and will be looking to continue that stellar form.

Double figure runner Aberration is coming into Wednesday after a 59-day let up, but prior to going out the son of Lonhro had won and finished second twice in its last three races. The gelding has previously placed first up in the past and can run a cheeky race at odds.

Race 3 tip: Aberration to place ($4) at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 4 – Winx Is Coming BM72 (1250m)

Reward For Fashion is looking to maintain a ridiculous racing record which has seen it finish inside the placings in its last five races. The mare returns after three-weeks away from the track and is looking to continue a great run of form over the 1200m distance where it has two wins and two placings from six runs.

Kris Lees-trained Star Reflection comes into the race as the short-priced favourite, and while the mare is racing in great form, we like the look of Reward For Fashion ahead of it. Still, the Lees’ four-year-old is more than capable of taking this race out and looks the next-best option after our elect.

Race 4 tip: Reward For Fashion to win (+700) at CrownBet.com.au

Race 5 – TAB BM72 (1600m)

Bastia returns after a fortnight away from the track and looks set to resume in style. The three-year-old is undefeated at the distance and had plenty of excuses over its last two runs. This race looks to be ideal for the gelding.

Bridge-runner Balmain Boy is a brilliant runner that has the capacity to easily take this race out. Last time out it badly overraced and still managed to finish within a nostril of the eventual winner Another Snappy. The four-year-old will take a lot from the two weeks away from the track and will be chomping at the bit for a big run.

Race 5 tip: Balmain Boy ($5) at WilliamHill.com.au

Race 6 – Bowerman’s Furniture BM72 (1100m)

A wide open race is the penultimate event on the Canterbury card but we think Star Crossed is the horse to beat here. Just once in its career has it missed the placings and the gelding has a sensational 42 percent winning strike rate which is far and away the best record in the race.

Johnny Roo Boy resumes after a 33 day lay off and returns to the sprint distance where it has had great success in the past. Last time out it punished the field over the 1100m at Muswellbrook and anything close to that run will see the well-raced six-year-old right in the frame come the post.

Race 6 tip: Star Crossed ($4.40) at Crownbet.com.au

Race 7 – Schweppes BM67 (1250m)

Tip Top is a lightly-raced four-year-old that has never missed a placing in its career. Although the horse has one just once in its four race career, the gelding has never finished outside a length and a half of the eventual winner. The race represents a step up in class, but there is no reason to doubt the gelding at this point.

Adam Duggan-trained Jonny Ge is the clear stand out in this field, if it can find its top form. A winning percentage of 67 would attest to this and it has also never lost at this distance. It resumes after almost a month off the track and has a terrific record of two wins from three starts first up.

Race 7 tip: Johnny Ge to win (+340) at CrownBet.com.au
