What Canterbury Races
Where Canterbury Park Racecourse – King St, Canterbury NSW 2193
When Wednesday, May 5, 2021
First Race 12:45pm AEST

Seven metropolitan races will be run and won at Canterbury Park in New South Wales on Wednesday from 12:45pm AEST. The track is rated a Good 4, and with the rail out 6m for the entire circumference of the course, we can expect to see the leaders favoured again. HorseBetting.com.au brings you the best bets and quaddie numbers for the Sydney midweek meeting.

Best Bet: Socialist

This Maher & Eustace filly lost by the smallest of margins in her most recent run at this track and distance on April 21st. By Capitalist, Socialist did everything right in her latest outing and had her head down both before and after the post, but it wasn’t enough to get the job done. On Wednesday she lines up in a similar race, and with her wider alley, she can be up outside the leader rather than tucked away on the fence. Jason Collett retains the ride, and they’re in here with 1kg less. She should win this.

Best BetRace 1 – Socialist (#8) $3.60 with Sportsbet

Next Best: Best Side

Another two-year-old that we are keen on is Chris Waller’s Best Side. Now having his third start, we would have liked to see him out a little further in trip, but he should be able to dictate terms in this. Having drawn the inside barrier, Kerrin McEvoy will take the Not A Single Doubt colt to the front, and that should be all she wrote over the 1200m journey. The form around this one has stacked up, given on debut he finished 0.2 lengths behind Port Louis, who has since placed behind two-time winner Billiondollarbaby and ran credibly in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes. Best Side’s time to shine is now.

Next BestRace 2 – Best Side (#5) $5 with Sportsbet

Best Value: Frankly Savvy

Will Freedman and Campbell Rawiller combine in the penultimate with last-start Coonabarabran winner Frankly Savvy. The four-year-old Savabeel mare led all the way to justify her short price over the mile, and while this is tougher, a bit of speed could be withdrawn if Good Omens starts at Hawkesbury on Tuesday, which would suit her down to the ground. Rawiller claims 3kg, which sees her in with just 53kg, and the rise to 1900m is bound to suit. If she gets a soft time of it in front, she will be in it for a very long way.

Best ValueRace 6 – Frankly Savvy (#13) $21 with Sportsbet
