Cairns Jockey Club are set to host a seven race card on Tuesday afternoon as the lone meeting being held in Queensland. The track is rated a Good 3, with the rail in the true position the entire circuit. HorseBetting.com.au brings to you our best bets, top odds and free quaddie selections for the meeting set to get underway at 1:34pm AEST.
Best Bet: Keys Please
Our best bet on the Cairns card comes up in the opening leg of the quaddie with the Ralph Baker-trained Keys Please looking awfully hard to beat. The filly resumed from a near five-month spell with a runner-up effort on April 8 at Townsville and will appreciate the five-week gap between runs. Early speed is a big advantage over the 950m at Cairns, and having drawn a wide barrier she should find herself at the front of the field with a bit of ease. In her initial campaign she was undefeated through two runs, both in similar fashion over the Townsville 1000m, and if she brings those efforts here on Tuesday, she should be far too good for this field.

Next Best: Fluttering
Sharlee D’Avila saddles up Fluttering, who has begun his career in fine style with two wins and five runner-up efforts in eight career starts. His only ‘failure’ came at Townsville on May 6 when defeated by just under two lengths in sixth place. He is a Cairns specialist having yet to finish outside of the quinella in five starts at the track, and that record includes a win over the track and distance he faces on Tuesday. With Marnu Potgieter’s 1.5kg claim, expect the pair to go forward over 1250m and prove too slick for a BM58 field that lacks a bit of depth.
Race 7 – Fluttering (#1)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1369511_07]
Best Value: October Storm
The Janel Ryan-trained October Storm comes to Cairns for his 34th career start, and with a significant drop in weight, he looks a genuine chance in the second leg of the quaddie. Even before Rachel Shred’s 1.5kg claim, he was going around 3.5kg lighter than what he did when winning at Townsville on May 6. He now gets in extremely well in the weights, draws to do no work in the run from barrier one and should be hitting the line hard late.
