Cairns horse betting tips – February 23, 2021
Tuesday afternoon will see seven races run and won out of Cairns in Queensland’s north. While the rail is in the true position for the entire circumference of the course, we will be racing on a Heavy 8 due to the volume of rain that has hit the town in the past days. Race 1 is due to jump at 2:20pm local time.
Best Bet: Helmaz
Rodney Miller and Brad Pengelly combine with Helmaz, who will be looking to notch his third win on the bounce in this 1400m Benchmark 70. The five-year-old son of Helmet has been too classy in his last two at Townsville and Mackay respectively and will now look to do it even further north in Cairns. Drawn to lead from barrier two, the flashy chestnut will look to dictate terms and should salute once again.

Next Best: Tennessee Boy
Roy Chillemi saddles up four runners in this six-horse 3YO QTIS Jewel Qualifier, and two of those are probably the best three-year-olds in North Queensland in Tennessee Boy and Higher Realm. Neither has ever missed the placings in 11 and seven starts respectively, and they are also one apiece when facing each other head-to-head. We are siding with Tennessee Boy this time, as he has a nicer gate in barrier two and can box seat en route to his fifth straight win. Higher Realm has to overcome the wide alley, which might make it hard for the four-time victor.

Best Value: Amelia’s Rainbow
Amelia’s Rainbow blitzed them at her most recent start at this track and distance to win her maiden by three lengths. Since then she has been back to the races three times and been fair without winning. The four-year-old Real Saga mare does her best racing on the Cairns track and has only been out of the placings once from four attempts at the 1250m here. She shouldn’t be too far away from gate five under Wanderson D’Avila and should get home well under the light weight.
