HorseBetting.com.au’s Queensland racing analyst has done the form for all seven races at Cairns and brings you the best bets and quaddie numbers for Tuesday’s meeting. The track is rated a Good 4, the rail is in the true position for the entire course, and racing will commence at 1:45pm local time.
Best Bet: Modernism
Modernism was a force to be reckoned with last campaign, winning four on the trot from her maiden to a Benchmark 65 before going for a spell. The four-year-old mare resumed with a fourth placing in a tricky Benchmark 70 behind Dunatun, who only just missed behind Higher Realm on Thursday at Townsville. Jake Bayliss will do the steering from barrier two, which will see her get back and be running on. She is one to follow again this preparation.
Race 2 – Modernism (#2)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1366524_02]
Next Best: Tennessee Boy
Roy Chillemi and Zac Lloyd combine in the penultimate with Tennessee Boy. The three-year-old gelding has won seven of his 13 career starts and placed in the other six, so he has an incredible racing record. Last time out he finished third to Bold Eos and Tunero, who won in style at the next start. Zac Lloyd claims 3kg, so the son of Spill The Beans will go around with 60kg on his back in a moderate field. He is 9.5 rating points better than the second-best horse and only has to carry 2.5kg more, so he should be weighted to perfection. He should get back into the winner’s circle here.
Race 6 – Tennessee Boy (#1)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1366524_06]
Next Best Again: Battle Cry
Zac Lloyd will be carrying the hopes of our followers on Monday when he links up with another of our top picks. Stephen Massingham’s Battle Cry hasn’t raced since August, but he did win three straight before going for a spell. The son of All Too Hard has won four of 16 and has an unbeaten record at Cairns’ Cannon Park. He will be right on the speed from the inside alley over the 950m trip and should be very hard to beat.
