But I Know wins second Highway at Randwick

But I Know wins at Randwick.
But I Know, ridden by Andrew Adkins, has landed a second Highway Handicap win.

Well-bred mare But I Know is headed for the Country Classic in a fortnight after winning her second TAB Highway Handicap at Randwick.

Trained by Taree’s Ross Stitt, the four-year-old ($6) shot to the lead at the 200m and held off outsider Lost Command ($16) by a half-neck on Saturday.

Black Wand ($7.50) was three quarters of a length further back, with $4.40 favourite Fast Talking a distant last.

Winning jockey Andrew Adkins had to go the long way home, but had the speed to overcome the 11-starter field after putting her to sleep early.

“Huge effort,” he said.

“I didn’t really want to be going four or five wide around the turn but they were just going too slow.

“I sort of needed to just get moving on her. She doesn’t have a super lightning turn of foot.

“It was awkward and not one of the best rides from the 800m but it won me the race.”

The daughter of two-time Cox Plate winner So You Think, But I Know is now set to step up to 2000 metres at Rosehill where she won a Class Two Highway two starts back.
