Buffering tips Bulldogs to win AFL Final

Star Queensland sprinter Buffering is in the corner of the Western Bulldogs ahead of the AFL Grand Final.

Nine-year-old Buffering made his choice at Flemington on Thursday morning, ahead of the Group One Moir Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

Buffering was led by trainer Robert Heathcote’s travelling foreperson Mel Sharpe to choose between the Sydney Swans and Western Bulldogs, with the team scarves placed on hay bales.

Often described as a bulldog for the way he fights in his races, Buffering headed to the red, white and blue colours of the Western Bulldogs.

The winner of 20 of his 53 race starts, Buffering is lining up for his fifth straight start in the Moir Stakes, attempting his fourth win.

He finished second at his other attempt in 2013.

Buffering sits on the third line of betting for Friday night’s race at $6.

Champion sprinter Chautauqua heads the market at $2.25 with three-year-old Extreme Choice second pick at $4.80.
