Prime Thoroughbreds on Sunday night announced the retirement of their $1 million earner Rubisaki, who was purchased for $85,000 at the 2018 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

The five-year-old daughter of Rubick took the racing world by storm early on in her career, winning eight of her first 10 starts and finishing runner-up on the other two occasions.

The Patrick Payne-trained mare’s career highlight was a dominant 1.5-length victory in the $1 million Inglis Sprint at Warwick Farm in February 2020, before then going to win the Group 2 Kewney Stakes at Flemington in March.

“After discussions with Patrick Payne and the owners it has been decided to retire Rubisaki,” Prime Thoroughbreds posted on Twitter.

“She was a magnificent filly for her owners.

“The $85k purchase won 8 races and $1,260,000 in stakes.

“I’m certain she will become a great Mum.”

Rubisaki’s last win came back in April 2020 at Randwick in the Group 3 JHB Carr Stakes, where she defeated Subpoenaed by two-tenths of a length over 1400m.

She has had 10 starts since then and placed three times, including a third in the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes at Morphettville in May this year.

Rubisaki won eight of her 20 races and placed on five other occasions, winning $1,260,400 in prizemoney for her connections.

No stallion has been booked for the mare yet.
