Bordertown racing preview and free tips for January 6
A seven race card at Bordertown greets punters as we look to build a bank during the first week of 2021, and with only one meeting conducted on Tuesday there will be plenty of punters out there looking to find some winners on Wednesday. The track has come up a Good 4, and with the rail in the true position throughout, we’re set fair for a great day of racing in South Australia.
The first race at Bordertown will face the starter at 1:45pm ACDT on January 6, 2021. Below are our free Bordertown tips and best bets, plus a free quaddie tip.
Best Bet: Race 1 #1 Territory Titan
Two starts back the James Dodgson trained Territory Titan was a dominant winner at Morphettville, and we think he can build on his last start fifth at the same track and prove hard to hold out in the opener at Bordertown. Despite having all the favours in the running at Morphettville three weeks ago, he seemed to peak on his run in the final 50m and was swamped late and needed to settle for fifth on that occasion. He drops back to BM72 grade for this assignment and from barrier two should settle just off the leader’s heels and, with a touch of luck, in the home straight should show a slick turn of foot and salute as our best bet on the Bordertown card on Wednesday.

Next Best: Race 5 #6 Longmire
The appropriately named Longmire is on the quick 10 day back up following a narrow win at Naracoorte over 1200m in rain affected going. He comes back to Bordertown where he has struggled in the past, but he absolutely relishes the 1200m sprint in general. Longmire was ridden in a more prominent position at Naracoorte and from the middle of the field we’re backing Jacob Opperman to apply similar tactics here and with a bit of cover in the one out, one back position the pair should prove hard to hold out as one of the best tips going around at Bordertown.

Best Value: Race 6 #6 Stryker Star
Under the riding of Scarlet So, the Bob Post trained Stryker Star saluted at big odds at Naracoorte on December 27 when producing a barnstorming run from last to first in an eye-catching performance. The mare stays at 2000m for this run, and will look to string together back to back wins for the first time in her career with similar tactics that saw her win at her last start.
